I purchased a KTM Duke Motorcycle Model 200 Duke IN, on 24 June, 2014 (Inv. No. DB/HB/14/KTM/75), after visiting the KTM showroom in Shantinagar, believing that this was a great buy.
1) Unfortunately I faced tremendous problems a few months after purchase.
2) The bike would suddenly shut-off and on complaining to M/s Khivraj Motors, Kasturba Road, Bangalore-1, they would merely clean the air filter and service the vehicle as necessary. The bike would then run for some time and then repeat the sudden shut-off.
3) Often by pressing the starter button for a long time, the bike would start and the bike would run for a few weeks, and then the problem would once again arise. The Khivraj Service Centre would then do some minor "repair" and show the bike running okay.
4) This happened on several occasions till this type of long starter use, resulted in the battery failing and a new battery was suggested as a solution to the problem. After the battery was replaced, and the bike checked, it ran for a few months, shutting-off but starting with repeated action of the starter button.
5) Several months later when the problem became acute, it was suggested that the overheating of the engine might be the cause. I therefore installed a larger fan. Despite following all advice, the problem persisted and my torment was unbearable. I even I met with a small accident due to the sudden engine shut down while I was riding at a turning.
6) When the bike was taken to Khivraj Motors to set right the persistent fault, they said that the fuel pump was at fault and insisted on replacement at my cost. I accordingly complied on 12 August, 2017 (copy of Invoice attached).
7) The bike then worked for several months satisfactorily after which period, the problem persisted, though less often.
8) A few days ago the problem became acute and now the bike lies at my house unable to start and remain running for more than a few metres.
It appears that the fuel pump and filtering system has a major manufacturing defect and at first the fuel pump needs replacement with a better pump, under the warranty provided for the earlier replacement that I should not have paid for in the first place.
My faith in the quality of the bike is fully eroded.

Also while taking delivery of the vehicle from their Shantinagar Showroom I gave the number plate and registration work to them. The showroom people made an error in the number plate & though I brought this to their notice a few months later, till date this has not been rectified. Khivraj Motor representatives who came to pick up the defective vehicle yesterday (12 July, 2018) said it was not their responsibility to change the number plate and we should pursue the Showroom people. Your complaints show that they are good at throwing the ball.
