[Resolved]  Airtel — Charges levied over disconnected Datacard number

Address:Chennai, Tamil Nadu

Regarding postpaid data card no : [protected] i had placed a disconnect request for the above data card number on 26-Mar-2015 (reference no :[protected]. As i placed this disconnect request, i was contacted by Customers Relation Executive to confirm my wish to disconnect. I confirmed that i wanted the data connection to be disconnect. While taking the confirmation, the executive offered me with a choice of converting the number to prepaid card and that i was informed that i need to approach nearby Airtel outlet with necessary documents within 14 days if i wish to convert the number to prepaid. The point to note here is that it was only an offer by Airtel of coverting to prepaid and i have never agreed in terms that i will definitely convert the number to prepaid. Since i have gone out of station i havent given much thought about the conversion of postpaid to prepaid. On April 29th 2015, i was sent a outstanding settlement bill for Rs.434/- for my usage till i placed a disconnect request. I have duly paid the outstanding amount. However Airtel continued to keep the number Active even though it was not in use(Abosolutely no usage since 26-Mar-2015) and generated bills for subsequent months(for three months[protected],[protected] and[protected] and claiming that i am liable to pay Rs.2196.70/- Even after repeated explanation given by me to Customer care executives, 121 email support and Airtel presence, they continue to send emails, calling me 3 times a day(to my primary contact number) and through messages from known and unknown numbers asking me pay the amount. It is Airtel's responsiblity to disconnect the number if i had not moved to prepaid. Instead they simply kept the number active in my old data plan and continued generating bill without even contacting me about this. I have paid the outstanding amount for the usage on April 29th 2015 and i am not liable to pay anything that is of Airtel's mistake or their system not allowing them to initiate a reversal for the incorrectly billed amount. Requesting the concerned authorities to look into the issue and provide a resolution and save me from the everyday harassment i am going through by the customer care calls and messages.
