[Resolved]  Apollo Hospital - Bhubaneswar — Medical Negligence - Lost my Father

Address:Khordha, Odisha

My Father admitted in Apollo Bhubaneswar – emergency ward with a symptom of Severe Chest pain on 17th Dec’13, 11:00pm. Emergency ward referred the case to Cardiology deptt., and after subsequent investigation, Head of Cardiology concluded that my father suffered Heart attack and suggested to go for angioplasty immediately or-else they cannot assure patient’s life. Angioplasty finished at 18th Dec’13, 02:30am, 3 stents implanted and patient shifted to ICU and put on ventilator support. My father put on 1st dialysis 18th Dec’13, 7:30am – reason Kidney not functioning well, no urine formation. Post dialysis, Urine formation improved but not satisfactory. Ventilator support removed around 18th Dec’13, 11:30am as patient recovering well. Patient again put on 2nd Dialysis, 18th Dec’13 7:00pm – Reason still urine formation is a worry. On 19th Dec’13, patient put on 3rd dialysis, 2:30pm – Reason still urine formation is a worry. My father is in complete sense, talked with us and had semi-fluid dinner in night. On 20th Dec’13, 9:00am doctor announced that my father’s condition deteriorated and he is in critical stage. No clue for the deterioration. Suspected reason may be some internal bleeding and also urine formation is a worry. My father went through 4th dialysis on 20th dec’13, 11:00am. Post dialysis, doctor did CT scan and Angiography around 4:00pm to cross verify the reason for deterioration but results are satisfactory. My father again put on ventilator support. On 20th Dec’13, 8:30pm, doctors discussed with me and informed me that may be my father has some severe infection – Sepsis. Strong antiobatic has been given and nothing else can be done. On 20th dec’13, 10:30pm my father passed away …….. So many questions went unanswered here, - Why pre-medical history not verified prior to Angioplasty? He admitted in Apollo – July’13 with some other complications and complete medical records available with hospital. - Why kidney complications developed after angioplasty while his kidney is always well, even same verified in July’13 by Apollo ? - Why angioplasty done immediately? Proper diagnosis/blood test should have been done prior to procedure. Patient should have been allowed to stabilize prior to such critical surgical procedure. Why same did not happen? - Why sepsis did not diagnose prior? why same diagnosed after 3rd day ? - Why complete lack of coordination between cardiologist and Nephrologist? All are worried about their treatment. Cardiologist mentioned me that heart is functioning well after angioplasty hence his job is over. Rest need to be taken care by Nephrologist? - Why Nephrologist did not act prior? Only 1 visit to Cardiac ICU in a day and no other suggestion came out except dialysis. main reason what I felt is that patient belongs to Cardiac ICU and not Kidney ICU. - My conversation with Nephrologist very much unpleasant. On 20th dec’13, 11:00am he mentioned that I have asked for dialysis, so let us wait till tomorrow to knew the result. - On 20th Dec’13, 1:00pm, I requested Cardiologist with folding hand to put a request to Nephrologist for frequent visit/inspection. Got a reply that it’s part of doctor responsibility and my part (heart) is well. - Throughout all these days, I have signed bunch of papers. Because of all these negligence, lack of coordination across deptts, ego clash, cashing out money approach, finally my dad departed leaving me in this cruel world to fight/suffer. I settled an amount of Rs 6, 21, 000/- to take my father along with me. All these trauma put me in severe mental depression and put me in medication/bed rest since then. Finally I regained my strength to fight back against this injustice so that others in this world should not suffer. Hi, Mr. Panda. Thanks for raising the issue. I strongly admit with this issue . I lost my father in law on[protected] in Apollo, Bhubaneswar. It was also completely negligence, the doctor of cardiology dept. Was absolute rude and arrogant. He is thinking himself as he knows everything and above world. We spent around 8.5 lakh rupees within a span of 10 days and at last my father in law expired. As per that cardiac doctor, it is due to infection. After reading your case I think the Apollo, BBSR is only revenue oriented and don't care for patient life.
Correspondence received from Apollo Bhubaneswar in this regard is not at all satisfactory. Malicious & contradictory information provided. Recently as per my notice, 2 more patients died post angioplasty because of infection . Must be many cases are happening in Apollo bhubaneswar which went unnoticed.
Hospital management is completely clueless & irresponsible on these deaths.
I am requesting for an appointment - In person with Apollo Management - Hyderabad so that such negligence can be brought out.
Why apollo is giving the reply to personal mail id?
Send it across so that others will get to know the truth behind the brutal murder of the innocent people.
Negligence became a game for these people.
