Telangana, a new state with so many challenges to overcome, Swine flu added to it & more than fifty people being succumbed to it so far. But it’s a business as usual for these corporate hospitals who are ever ready to cash in the situation, I was one of them to their victim. I sent my parents to take a flu shot at Apollo Hospitals, Secunderabad Branch, on 3rd February 2015. Cost of vial which was purchased at their medical store cost Rs: 735/- each, this is something which I can't question, but they extracted Rs : 180/- for administering injection for two people. When questioned on the charge they claim Swine flu is considered as a special vaccine hence they are charging Rs: 90/- instead of a Rs 30/- for the a normal flu shot. When my parents asked for a bill they denied issuing it first As they didn’t have any special selection on their billing tool to add Rs: 90/- hence they increased the quantity of injections to six to get the total amount to Rs : 180/- and they issued a bill.
When I called their branch to explain the reason behind the charge for a flu shot, they state that it was administered under doctor's supervision hence the charge, in reality a nurse injected the vaccine without any checkup. Vial VAXIGRIP (A) 0.5ml comes with a micro syringe. That means Apollo Charged my parents Rs: 180/- for a injecting vaccine on arm and a cotton bud. After demanding for a separate bill, they added Swine flu as a special category in their billing tool & generated a bill for Rs :90/-
This clearly shows their income is not monitored. The charges they take for injecting vaccines are not added to the patients bill proactively.
Note : I have attached the copies of bills.
