B. E. S. T. Undertaking — Harassment to pay fine for conductor's mistake | |||||
I am Darpana. Ahire, 29 yrs, Female. My office is in BKC and I regularly travel by BEST bus from and to Bandra station since June 2015. On 7th Oct 2016, around 7pm in bus 289(I suppose) I had got into a crowded bus from Diamond bus stop. I boarded the bus from the front door since getting in from the back door was impossible. We were 2 o[censored]s who waited for the conductor to come and take the ticket, but due to failed attempt we passed the money to him at the back to which he refused to issue a ticket and passed it back to us. According to him we should have come behind and taken the ticket. But it's his duty as well to come and collect ticket in the front irrespective if the bus is crowded or not. So in a crowded bus he expected us to go behind and take ticket but he couldn't come to collect it from front since it was a crowded bus. Eventually the TC checked for the ticket which I didn't have. The other girl slipped out without paying, but 2 TC's, the conductor and driver harressed me to pay a fine for a mistake which was not mine. It is the conductor's job to issue ticket even if the money passed to him and refuse by saying that you should have come in person to collect it specially in a crowded bus. For 10 Rs. ticket there were 4 people who tried to take fine from me. Being a working and educated women even in my right mind I will never think of not paying the bus charges. Is 10Rs. Such a big amount that I wouldn't have paid? This is the question your employees should think of specially while asking for a fine. And your employee cannot refuse issuing a ticket irrespective of a crowded situation or not. This incident has deeply hurt me since there were 4 of them who didn't let me go till I actually started to cry due to the verbal harresment. They had blocked me from going outside the bus that also at night. Eventually they let me go as I refused to pay any fine for someone else's mistake. Hope you look into this and raise it up with the concerned team. Else I will raise this incident further up if you don't reply to my mail. As it is travelling to and from BKC is difficult and with your non-cooperative employees travel is become more of a hassle now. As after this incident I don't think I will ever travel in a BEST where employees treat the passengers so badly. Was this information helpful? | |||||
