Blue Dart Courier Services — Product delivery not being handled properly | |||||
I had ordered a dress from ajio.com on the 20th of November, which was to be sent to me through Blue Dart Courier Services and the bill was to be paid via Cash on Delivery system (COD). ajio.com sent me a message stating that the item would be delivered to me on the 24th of November, 2016. Later, they sent me a message stating that there might be a delay of 48 hours. Nevertheless, I called ajio.com on the 24th to ask them when the product would be delivered and they informed me that I would receive it at the end of the day, at around 1800 or 1900 hours. I waited and I did not receive the product. The next day (25th of November, 2016), I waited for the product again and did not receive it. I called them up again at around 12:16PM to inquire about the product. They told me that the product would reach me by the end of the day, again at 1800 or 1900 hours. They registered a complaint regarding this delay in delivery. I expected, on both days, that Blue Dart Courier Services would call me up to tell me the courier boy was there with my product, requesting me to come and collect and pay. On the 25th, when I did not receive any intimation till 18:44, I called ajio.com again and they requested me to track the delivery on Blue Dart's website. I checked the tracking and the status of the delivery had been updated to "Consignee Not Available at 1300 hours". They had not called me at 1300 hours nor did they send me an SMS and they had stated straightaway that I had not been available to receive the product. I checked online and saw that this difficult had been met by several other people using Blue Dart Courier Services. I called up Customer Care and they told me that it was not company policy to call the consignee and that the consignee was expected to stand at the given address so that the courier boy could deliver it directly to them. Other courier services do not expect the consignee to be waiting outside their homes/offices/other building at the given address. They do call the consignee and request them to come collect the courier. Blue Dart is highly reputed and it is riding on goodwill, thereby treating their consumers as per their wish. The Customer Care executive stated that the product, according to the details they received, was to be delivered today and yet, according to ajio, it was supposed to be delivered yesterday or before that. He was also extremely rude by making it sound like the failure of delivery was all my fault since I was not seen at the address, when it is their own fault that they could not bother to even contact me about the delivery.
