[Resolved]  Citi Bank — Funds deducted

Address:Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh

I am Rohit Patel from Hyderabad. I hold a CITI Debit and a Credit Account with Citi bank since past 5+ years. My Debit account number is " [protected] " I used the Citi bank Mobile app to transfer funds to someone. But by mistake i missed to select the correct payee list from the drop down menu. So by Default it picked the first payee from the list. (Account holder Mr Abhishek Kumar, Account # [protected]). I transferred 6000 rupees. This happened on 5th April 2014. This was a human error. I immediately contacted the call center and got no help. Was transferred to multiple people and none helped. Finally i was asked to Visit the nearest Citi Bank. I have also tried to contact Mr Abhishek Kumar over the phone but was not able to connect with him. I was able to contact him over an email later on, through which he mentioned he is out of India and has closed his online citi account and he cannot transfer my money back. I visited Citi Bank at Begumpet Hyderabad immediately on 5th April. Met Sharon Anugraham (sharon.[protected]@citi.com). Informed her the entire situation, she assured that the money will not be lost. I went to Citi bank 2 days later, Sharon mentioned they are still looking into it. She mentioned that Abhishek Kumar's account is in Negative Balance but that will not be a problem and she said they were waiting for approvals to process this request. Sharon after a day contacted me and asked me to get a confirmation email from Abhishek Kumar stating that he is ok with transferring the funds back to my Account. Abhishek Kumar sent an email consent stating that he is ok with that to Sharon. I was asked to wait for a couple of days. But there was no communication. I have been waiting since then. I try to contact Sharon, i send her an email daily. She replies once in a while stating she is looking into this but she never gets back to me as promised. I then logged a complaint to the Citi bank's Nodal Office on 28th April. They promised to resolve my issue within 3-4 business days. But they have not yet resolved my issue. They send me an email every 3-4 days stating that they are still investigating. This is not such a big issue for such a multi national bank to revert back an incorrect transaction. Now as i am very upset and frustrated i am writing to the consumer court. Please help me out with this. I am waiting for resolution for a simple issue since one month and ten days. Regards, Rohit Patel [protected]
