The decision making process in my case has been haphazard
and inconsistent. When I came in to the emergency with pain in my chest – I was
admitted saying its fatty liver. After Ultra sounds and Xray scan it was
determined as stones in the liver – after multiple scans it was determined
there is no stone in liver. Then it was determined that I had lung infection –
after 2 days. During the process it was determined I could have swine flu – I
had a test done and I was put in an isolated room for 2 days. My family was
asked to go get medication for swine flu from a government hospital where we
were told there have been no cases reported why you are being treated for it.
Just on suspicion my family had to go through a lot o[censored]nnecessary stress
The doctor did not provide regular feedback on my progress.
His consultations were limited to how are you – the treatment is going on – we
will wait for the results. At one point he met me in the hall way and asked me
how I was doing and mentioned there is going to be CT scan tomorrow. That was
all the interaction I had with the doctor and I was charged consultation fees.
If the doctor is not present during my scanning and all he did was saying hello
why am I being charged consultation fees ?
I have spent nine fruitless days in the hospital just to know that at the end I
just have pneumonia and treatment can be continued at home. I agree that in
some cases there is not exact evidence and diagnosis continues for a while. But
in my case the diagnosis was not proper and treatment even worse. The manner in
which the whole thing was handled is pretty bad. I will not recommend Columbia
Asia ever to any of my friends or coworkers and will take up this issue with my
HR and other social media.
Above
feedback was provided to the hospital at the time of my discharge
On
the day of the discharge the doctor who was seeing me for the past two weeks
dint show up to explain the next steps of my treatment. When I asked the HOD
she said the doctor is in a personal emergency and won’t be in the hospital. I
was also told that another doctor will come down and tell me about the next
steps.
The
head of the department lied to me as I learnt that the doctor was very much in
the hospital doing his rounds but dint care to come see me. The head also
mentioned that the doctor may have issues with me. No doctor came to see me on
my discharge day. I was not given a progress summary.
