[Resolved]  Ahmedabad Traffic Commissioner — Harassment by Ahmedabad Traffic Police

Sir,

I am holding an Orrisa registered bike , it is a 7 month old bike. I have just changed my job and placed in Ahmedabad Satelite area. I have been stopped by Ahmedabad traffic police for two times in last 20days. They are directly asking for bribe and threaten if you want challan then submit your bike and collect it from RTO. They try to pressurize the bike rider to pay the bribe in order to skip the legal proceeding. It is becoming a normal practice for Ahmedabad traffic police to harass the common people especially on weekend (specially on Saturday and Sunday).

1) I was stopped for the first time on 27th July,2012 for not having front number plate though I am having the same at back side of my bike (At shyamal Char Rasta), I paid Rs.200 to skip the legal proceeding.

2) I was held for the second time on 12th August,2012 as I am having Orissa registered bike in Gujrat and second reason was I dont have PUC. I have explained him that my bike is very new and dont require any PUC. He changed the topic and threatened me to detain my bike and collect the same from RTO by 4,500 rupees. I paid Rs.150 to skip legal proceeding.

I request traffic police commissioner to take necessary action against those traffic police who are unnecessarily harassing the common public. Atleast traffic police should guide that what documents require to run the bike in Gujarat Road so that we can have the same with us while driving. They should coperate rather abusing like criminals.

This only seems as a source of malpractice. Please do the needfull.
