[Resolved]  Airtel Digital TV — Complaint against Airtel

We had installed Airtel Digital TV on 30/05/2009. After a week the screen started showing that this card is not valid. By contacting Airtel Call centre they told that Rs.100 is balance from our side. After recharging Rs.100 it was activated. After a week again i.e. 15/06/2009 again the TV screen showed that this ID card is not valid. We again called centre again they informed that we have subscribed for ESPN package and Rs.60 is pending in our account. While we had not sent any SMS for subscription. The fact is that airtel has deactivated free to air channels also. Is airtel collecting Rs.50-100 every week with the customers who had subscribed for free to air channels for one year on some pretext or other?
Why are ads given for fee-to-air channels subscriptions for one year? Can I get justice from airtel? Every time we contact airtel customer service they say "You pay this amount this time and next time it will not happen? Is this the way adopted by airtel to humiliate genuine customers and harrass them by charging them exhorbitantly evey week?

I S Ravi Kumar (Customer ID No. [protected]) resident of J P Nagar, Bangalore subscribed Airtel Digital TV on 16.11.2008 and the same was installed on 18.11.2008. The offer was for Rs. 2000/- with 12 months subscription free (South value Package).

Now after 3 months i recieve a SMS on my mobile mentioning that my negative balance of - Rs.300/-, which i couldn't understand.
Since i was on tour i thought i can check once im back in station. When returning from Delhi on 22nd i recd. a call from one o[censored]r call centre guy rudely mentioning about negative balance of - Rs. 300/- without giving the actual reason and any explanation. He just asked me contact Customer Care and hung up the phone on my face as though i owe him or the Airtel. What kind of stupid and arrogant people are working in AIRTEL. This is most humiliating act by any (so called) CRM person. I SEEK AN APOLOGY on this count.

After i was back to Bangalore on 23rd Jan 2009 and found the service terminated / disconnected, i am really upset on this INSTANCE towards the dastardly act. I have been calling your customer care to get a Standard Answer that they don't know the reason and systems are down and details not available. I dont know what kind of Junk systems are installed and customer friendly approach (name sake) is followed in AIRTEL.

I Called Customer Care for 4th time and then for my luck i could find some responsible person to give the reason for extra wire cost (from 20m to 30m slab) and registering the Customer CompLaint No. 519711 and resolution of issue by 29th Jan 2009 Committing the resumption of services & waival of extra wire charge of Rs.300 - which was not at all needed. The explaination for extra wire is as below.


Dish has been installed on 4 storeyed building which requires approx. 40ft(12.2Mtrs) + 15 ft slack(5Mtrs) .During installation there was some unwanted length of extra wire being left coiled behind the TV during installation which the installation team said is more by 5mtrs apart from the 20 mtrs provided alongwith the system as reqd. Primarily i dont beilieve. When i questioned the installation team they demanded cash payment of Rs.400/- for extra wire. Since this team was acting dubious i.e, Great AIRTEL team. I got doubtful and called up the Franchise, he mentioned that the cost of extra wire would get adjusted in the recharge amount of Rs.2000/- and there is no need to pay anything for installation team.


Till now the service is not resumed and i have not recd. any kind of response from AIRTEL. I feel Airtel has nurtured this habit of giving wrong commitments and then mastering the art of not satisfying the commitments made during the sale and misleading and cheating the customers. I SHALL BE FORCED TO APPROACH THE CONSUMER FORUM.

I Sanjeev Goel (Customer ID No. [protected]) resident of Noida subscribed Airtel Digital TV in Dec 2008 .The offer was for Rs. 2000/- with 6 months subscription free.

On 22.12.2008 I charged for Rs.200 and VIde order No.1177924 requested for addon of Sports (Rs.105) and Kids+ (Rs.25) which got activated on 23.12.2008. Surprisingly my services (including free for 6 months) got deactivated on 18.01.09 for negative balance. I got Rs.100 recharged on 19.01.09 after which the connection was reactivated. On 20.01.2009 I called customer care and talked with one Ms Sangeeta and requested for deactivation of addons. She informed that she has submitted the request and addons shall be discontinued wef 26.01.2009. Today on 01.02.09 my services have again been deactivated. I called customercare and talked to one Mr Abdul. He said that I have got negative balance of Rs.8 and told that services will be restored only if I recharge. On checking he informed that addon services have not been discontinued. For getting the addon services discontinued customer has to call only on 25th/26th of the month and NOT before as I did.

Being fedup I have decided not to recharge any more and stop using airtel services any more.

Airtel — New ways to harras people

My mobile no. is [protected] and the thing is since i complained against airtel that they are charging me unnecessary charges, my 121 (customer care) service has barred from their side so that i can't contact them and can't inquire about the wrong billing. Even i try with other nos. then they said that i m not able to open your account technically so call again later.

So could anyone help me out in this?
Folks, you should mention your customer ID so that people can know who you are to take action.

AIRTEL DIGITAL TV — Fraudulent charges for new connection

I had bought your digital tv service on 15/04/2009 and the service was for Rs. 2600 which comes with all the charges and one year of free channels of supervalue.

Till today my account shows as pending for activation and also I received an SMS saying that my account is in negative balance Kindly recharge so that the service is not interrupted.

I need to know why I have to recharge for Rs. 850 when I was told that the service comes free for one year and i had already paid Rs. 2600 for the whole year. I Need to know why Airtel has cheated me and when I call up the customer care number they say that I have to contact the dealer who has not provided me with the correct amount of the voucher and if I want I can cancel my service.

Does the dealer represent airtel or they work on their own selling schemes of their choice... I did not know airtel can cheat me in buying their product and then ask money for me which I had already paid...

I had done a recharge for Rs. 400 which has also gone for waste as I cannot use that for top ups.

I want my account to show positive Rs. 400. I will not contact the dealer airtel has to contact the dealer and find out why i was provided a lesser amount voucher...

I would like to bring your notice that I have purchased a new sim card as my existing sim was spoiled.
I was told by Airtel representative that sim will be activated within 4 hours, but it got 24 hrs. completed still sim is not activated this sim I purchased from Airtel gallery fort Mumbai.

I called Airtel helpdesk 121 but did not get any satisfactory answer, I was told I will have to visit Airtel gallery again, this is very ridicules for a reputed company which is having billions of customer but providing very poor service.

This is not first time I have similar experience earlier as well, as a customer I would recommend please enhance and find the loopholes in your service.

I had the same problem it was repeatadely showing negative balance. The problem is resolved now. If this happen again please keep the dish with you (don't return it) and take some other connection. Let them taught a lesson.

Airtel DTH — Lack of service and charging for service at their will

I am a Airtel DTH customer for almost 8 months. My experience has been that they are totally pathetic in their service. There is only one way through which one can reach them, i.e. through Call Center. On average I waste 30 min in just connecting with them, there also no one is able to help

Recently I faced problem related to set top box. The software of STB was hanging. I was told by call center agent that I will be charged Rs 300 for STB replacement. Whereas later I came to know that I have spent Rs 1100 on that. There also Call center agent behaved in a very arrogant way. These companies are operating in a purely monopolistic way, no way there is any consideration for customer. Which was the main intent behind CAS or DTH.

I belive TRAI should make rules so that inter-operatability between various service providers in opened, so that this coterie between various DTH suppliers is broken.

but till this day i have not got the package i have opted for.i have contacted your dealer not less than 10 times reg this but ther is no response.he has been trying to contact your customer care and says its no use even i have tried to contact customer care and i find that there i no use contacting cutomer care it is only waste of time. now i have come to a conclusion that i have been cheated by airtel dth and the dealer and public money is looted. finally i have decided to deliver back the set box and all materials back to your dealer and take alegal route.i have decided not to go for any of the airtel services.

Airtel — Non receipt of Airtel dish connection after 6 months of getting one

I live in Bangalore and I got Airtel dish connection in January 2009. My apartment had restrictions installing dish on terrace and hence we initiated transfer of dish to our home in Chennai. Even after 6 months and with about 50 mails, calls, the dish transfer is not done. Lately I have been talking to one Sathish, who claimed to be the Service Manager in Bangalore. He had only made false promises and no action has been done until now. This whole issue had led to a lot of mental agony from our end and waste of time, you can imagine what would happen if we had to follow up on something we own for 50 times and still do not get it done. what is so hard for a company to service its customers for the products that they offer? we are not demanding anything that does not belong to us. It has turned out to be such a bitter experience.Can someone in Airtel take a look at this and not end up with dissatisfied customers?

Dear Sir,
I fully agree with several statements appearing in the forum that Airtel Digital TV is one of the worst of the DTH service providers added to the fact that they a pathetic record of handling or responding to Customer Complaints either by email or telephone.

I would require an immediate explanation & resolution from Airtel Digital TV for the following:

We had installed the DTH unit in Feb/09 with South Mega package. On 14th Aug/09, it was noticed that some of Malayalam & Kannada channels are not being received. From my online account I could check that a 6 months of South Mega subscription has been activated on 14th Aug/09 by debiting Rs.1638 from my account. My questions are:

a) Who authorised this debit ? None of the family members have requested this. Can Airtel advice name, telephone number, date & time of this request ? (Airtel is supposed to have a call validation process in place).

b) If South Mega has been activated, why are we not receiving some of the channels which were part of the package earlier ? (e.g: Asianet, Asianet Plus, Kairali, Zee Kannada, TV 9 Kannada etc.

c) If Airtel has changed channels in the bouquet, that is not acceptable as my selection of Airtel was based on channels in the bouquet offered. You cannot keep changing channels available in the bouquet.

d) I have sent several emails to Airtel Digital TV Customer Service (from Contact Us option on the website) with not a single response.

e) I have made connection on a dozen times (after nearly scores of attempts) however either the customer service representatives puts me on hold & the calls get disconnected or they are least interested in resolution of problem at hand.

It appears that Airtel has made connection with their customer service unit so difficult that frustrated customers are left with no choice but to grin & bear the pathetic service meted out or turn to other efficiently managed DTH service providers.

My customer id No. is [protected] . i want to know about monthly packages ( i.e south packages ) but none of the airtel executive has not been given correct information & more thing whenever you change any package, you should be update in ur site first becoz most of the customer facing problem they dont know wat are the changes has been made in the package simply they subscribe the packages . this is the one of the worst service of yours. if you want to take care about ur customer than plz give the good services. AIRTEL DIGITAL TV — slackness of customer service

Sir,
My tv is not recieving signal since 7th october and it says that <set top box is unable to recieve signal>.I contacted customer care of airtel tv imediately at about 1 pm and they assured that service person will visit my place within 24 hour . When nobody came till 9th october I contacted customer care again they assured the same . I contacted again on 10th october but during the conversation the sustomer care person disconnected the phone. I sent an email to airtel tv on 11th .Today is 12th october and nobody had yet came to resolve the problem.Kindly look into the matter and tell me what should I do and how should these days of no service be compensated in my account.
