[Resolved]  Airtel - Postpaid — BPQ Voicemail SMS

Hi,

I received a voicemail message from AT-BPQ on 09.04.2009 and adviced to call at this number [protected]. On calling this no. they engaged my mobile for ten minutes with various information about mobile make, mobile service, year of purchase etc.and asked to TEXT Msg the Name, Address, City, Postal address & their unique code which is[protected] to [protected].

I advice AIRTEL to scrutnize such Junk SMS from their side & keep updating their customers about such Fraud SMS's, so that Airtel valued customer are not cheated by such msgs.

Thanks

Soubhaya Ranjan Dash.

Hello M.L.Buttan
thanks I also got the same msg from
[protected]

I think let ck what is bpq voicemail..
and I found ur msg...
as a fist link in google..

now I wdnt call this no..

Thanks again..
The sender is using different numbers for different messages,
when I got the message, it said me to call on "[protected]
This is true. I received it right now but don't know why before calling, i searched internet for this and landed here. What the hell they are running out there. The most annoying thing is my connection is VODAFONE. I am filling complaint right now.
Hey I also got same type of msg today: ""You have a new bpq voicemail, call [protected]". After getting this msg i googled and found this page.

It's a cunning Idea to promote the schemes and offers of the company to people at the people's cost.

But thanks to all of you that before calling on that number I am introduced to reality...
I also got the same message from TM_BPQ ' you have one new bpq voicemail, call [protected]'.
evn i had a same kind of msg n lost a balance of Rs. 90... I really nw feel pity of airtel for stupidity in sendin such junk msgs n eatin such of money... SHAMELESS...
I also got this sms today. It had SCAM written all over it, there was no way I was going to call an ISD number for a voicemail + there was no reason I would get a voicemail since my phone was on and I did not have any missed calls, etc. Even my office phone calls get transferred to my cell, not voicemail if I dont answer.

As far as DND is concerned, I have registered since last year, but I still get huge amount of spam SMS with companies selling everything from flowers to property. I have put in complaints against specific numbers on the Airtel site and I get SMS saying they will get back to me in 24 hrs, but never has it happened and I get SMS from the same damn numbers.
These phone companies are a bunch of cheap b**t***s for ripping us off by selling our numbers - they can't make systems that protect the numbers from being stolen en-mass by their employees.

TA-BPQ — Fraud voicemail / Spam

I got an sms from TA-BPQ saying "You have 1 new bpq voicemail, call [protected]. On calling its says i have won $2500 in some contest (i never applied in any contest though). Still wanted tio check what the hell this was so heard the message. It gave me a Claim cod to win $2500 (Claim code #[protected] and then was asked to send text message to this number [protected] with these details - First name, Family name, First line of address, City, Pin code, Claim code. I did not text as I was 100% sure this was absolute nonsense. Googled the telephone # [protected] and found any people have been send this text message from UK and some to receive it were from India.

Please take action. Spam mails is ramapant in India but now Spam Voicemails is a new mess.
TAKE SOME STRICT ACTION AGAINST THE SCAMMERS AND MOBILE OPERATORS.
man the same think happen to me on 23 april 2009 i was on roaming that time, i got a message on my no. that you have one voice mail from tm- bpq and there was no. given +[protected] i thought its a kind of voice mail no. which can be hear for free and i call to that no. soon IVR machine started kind of survey by saying my no. has been selected as a winner of 2500 $ what the [censored] they did survey to me and asked question about my mobile make and service provider and engaged me on call for 15 mins at last they asked me to message me my details via sms with the secret code

before doin that i try to call to custome care but the executive there he disconnect the call than thought what if i message i take it as a lottary and message it.

now i was jus sitting on net serching abt bpq and i saw these post than i realised i have been cheated and i think boss we have to take some action against airtel as this is not just me with whome this has happend there are many other people who had been fooled in past so any one who is with me can call me on my no. 91-[protected]

and one thing more i tried to call on that no. after 2 days but it was barred
I got similar type of mesgae from TA-BPQ. " You have 1 new bpq voicemail call +44 [protected]".
I have Airtel postpaid connection and i don't have ISD facility so, i didn't call the number and search what is BPQ in search engine and came to know this is fake message. Thanks for all the information.
Even i received a similar message. I would like to confirm if only Airtel customers have got such message. Because of late I have heard of Airtel using such wicked tactics to increase their revenues. Another example of such cheating by Airtel is Airtel's Friend Chat. They have put girls in their call centers who talk very sweetly and make us talk more...
me too received this stupid msg an lost ma balance too
Even I got such sms around 12 at night on 6.5.2009 they kept asking me junk questions for around 15 mins on the pretext of my winning some prize.
I also got the same msg.from TA-BPQ.in which they wrote that you have a new voicemail msg from a number.i imidiately did a call to costomer care and they said, they didn't have any information about this TA-BPQ.
I'll kill them, those who send this type of msg.
i also have got similar sms on 8-may-09, it said to call +[protected]
Yer buddy i have got similar msg. And unfortunately called it.i lost 101 Rs. And Rs. 5 for sending one msg. To the no. As told by that computer lady.ah!i am worried about it
