[Resolved] Andhra Bank — Discrimination against Muslim Customers | |||
Recently We have applied for a Student Loan for our child at the K.P.H.B. branch of Andhra Bank in Hyderabad. The Bank employee asked the name of the applicant, the moment he knew that we are Muslims from the name, he rejected the loan application without even reviewing it. We have filled out the application and got all the supporting documents and have genuine need to pay my child's college fees. The bank should have at least reviewed the application and if they found any discrepancies they should have rejected the application with a valid reason. Outright rejecting the loan application just by knowing that we are Muslims is not fair. This discrimination and bigotry against the law abiding Indian citizen who happens to be a Muslim is disgraceful. We have been a loyal customer of Andhra Bank for so many years and have never expected this kind of treatment from them. I hope this complaint reaches their upper management and they could make some policy changes and do some employee training to deal with diversity and respect all the customers irrespective of religion.
