[Resolved] Citibank — Cheque Payment Deferred | |
HDFC Bank cheque number '589882' payable to me 'Pranav Joshi' Suvidha A/c XXXXXXX119 was deposited at South Extension branch New Delhi on 31st October, after failing to receive the payment for the same till November 5th, I inquired regarding the status of the same through CitiPhone, complaint number [protected] was issued to me by CitiPhone personnel with the assurance that they would revert back on the same within 24 hours, needless to say they did not revert back in 24 hours and I had to call them on November 6th. In the conversation that ensued on November 6th I was informed that my cheque was deferred as my name was mentioned 'incorrectly' on the cheque, upon further questioning I was told that my middle name was not mentioned on the same, hence, the cheque was returned to my mailing address through courier. I received the cheque today at my mailing address with reason "BENEFICIARY NAME DIFFERS" Needless to say, I never received a phone call or sms that my cheque was being deferred between October 31st and November 6th. During my entire relation with Citibank which is more than 4 years, you are free to confirm that I have received all cheque payments as 'Pranav Joshi' and none with my full name. I want to know why after four years my middle name has suddenly become of so much importance. I have a serious doubts that I am being lied to by CitiBank personnel to cover up the delay in processing the cheque. If this is not the case and the personnel are speaking the truth then the matter becomes even more disastrous as there is bound to be a serious lack of process, all the payments (50+ cheques) that I have received in the past 4 years have passed through without any problem with my name mentioned 'incorrectly' as 'Pranav Joshi' I expect concrete answers to my concerns at the earliest as I am seriously contemplating other alternatives.
