[Resolved]  Dell Inspiron 1525 — Plugged in, not charging

Yes, like everyone else, i was dupped by the dell (Yet again) i was not happy with my desk top from a few years back and i should have not repeated the same mistake, ordering from dell again! So, i am partially to blame! But i was in a bind and had to purchase a laptop fast and didn't have neither the time nor the resources to consider another alternative (Or at least a little more educated before making a costly commitment like this)!
Anyway, the problem with this "expensive piece of junk" is what plenty other people have noted: right after i ran out of warranty, the battery (Which was noit fully charging before) depleated to 85% (Even plugged in) and from 85 to 50% and soon after i am looking at 29% and it is going down 1% everyday. Again, please bare in mind that the computer is always plugged in and never on without external power.
I am so concerned and don't know what to do, as i have heard the replacement batteris are mostly refurbished and do the same thing after couple of months! So, that means even if i buy another battery, there is no guarantee that is going to last me any more than couple of months. Plus with today's economy, i can not effort buying a "new" batthery and pay for installation and check run, etc.. Etc.
So, please take this as a complain, from a very frustrated dell consumer or venting and my little way of expressing my huge disappointment with dell (With their hurrible india -based customer support) and if nothing can be done about my problem, at least someone could be saved from making the biggest mistake of their life: buying a dell notebook! Or dell of anykind!

Dell / Inspiron 560s — IMPROPER SERVICE/HARDWARE ISSUES

I purchased a system from Dell
The purchase was done directly through Dell Customer Care the amount was transfered through internet banking
The customer sales manager Archana Jamble was assisting in the purchase.She has promised the delivery of the product in 7 days but i took almost 2 weeks for the delivery during the time response of the customer care staffs was very bad.Archana was not entering the correct address and we had to change the address online for proper delivery and excuse given bty Dell for late delivery was the address change done by us.

Upon receiving the system it took Dell two days to send technician for installation

Further we found out the audio was not playing and upon troubleshootin the Dell technicians even point to hardware complaints .Our system is very much with in warranty period and yet Dell is finding it hard to send atechnician to trubleshoot and to repair.None in Dell were in a position to answer the queries properly and could not deliver a proper answer



so we fell"HELL WITH DELL"
Same here...You would think someone would have a solution. Something is causing the problem. I am working on a Dell Inspiron 1526 with the same problem. Replaced the adapter still nothing. I tried a moving up to the 90watt as some said it works for them for me it did not. battery health states its good. I think it's more of Dell's cheap high priced components more than anything else. The same goes across the board. Many manufactures use the same components and just brand it all coming from the same source. What we get is high priced crap!

dell inspiron 1545 — AC Adaptor plugged in but not charging

Hii..
I've bought this laptop on 17th april 2009 and till last month it was working fine but now when i connect AC adaptor to laptop it shows "plugged in but not charging "
the battery level is not just 4% and hence when there is power cut or anything I can't even turn it on for a min also.
what's the worth of keeping a laptop if just in one year i'm facing this kinda problem.
i do use it for my personal use and never even let anyone to touch it.
now can anyone guide me or dell will replace my Battery or AC Adaptor whichever is faulty or the company is going to ignore my problem.
plzzz help me out as soon as possible as its really hard for me to work like this.

i guess its because the battery life is dead.. it will work like a normal PC.. even i am facing the same problem.. warranty over and battery life over. so we need to change battery. its normal and court can't do anything for that, i guess as it comes under consumer handling. normal dell usage: 18-24 months battery life.. the more u use the battery goes dead soon.. NEW battery is only sollution. if i am wrong please let me know ur sollution

I have had the same problem. I bought the Dell laptop in April last year, and in May this year (1 month after the warranty had run out) my battery stopped charging completely and if the charger wire slightly comes out of the laptop it will instantly shut down. I am currently completing a Masters at University so I am relying on my laptop at the moment and having a problem like this is just not acceptable! Never had this problem with other laptops, and I was under the impression that Dell were one of the best makes out there! Sadly I was wrong! I have had no other option but to spend £62 on a replacement battery from Dell which they have assured me will never last longer than 12 months. Hopefully the word will spread about this problem and less people will waste their money on their products!
i have a vostro 1000 dell laptop. and i have a plugged in not charging icon. i have rng dell they are sending out a new ac adapter and a motherboard with tech coming tomorrow to fit it.. my battery is out of warrenty. i habe had laptop just over 1 year. i have had athe hard drive changed since than.. all i seem to be getting is 1 problem after another and dell are 100% useless. never buy a dell again

I had the same problem I just updated the BIOS and now it's charging. Try this it worked for me. Download the update from Dell's website you need at least 10% charge on the battery fro it to run after you download. Get your service tag # from the bottom of the laptop and plug into Dell to get pointed to the correct update.

Dell Inspiron Mini 1012 — Delay in delivery and service

This is with reference to my new laptop Dell Inspiron Mini 1012.
I had made the online purchase confirmation on 26th May 2010, and was informed I would receive the laptop in a 7-10 days. But to my dismay I received the laptop on 13th June 2010. To add to the disgust, the piece was found to be defective and when I put up a complaint with Dell Support, they responded stating it will further take one more week from today.
My work has been stuck for a long time now due to the issue.
Same problem in the UK - three-year old Dell Inspiron 8600 with a 11.1V battery (7050mA Type Y0956 Capacity 80Wh). The charging light often fails to come in even when the charging unit is plugged in. Seems to be a loose connection as sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. No way of testing whether it is is a fault with the battery.
I have same problem that battery is not charging. Its both in Linux and Vista. So its not the problem with Vista. Its the problem with battery only.

Okay, seriously. I'm trying to read through all of these, hoping to find a solution. Yes, you have the same problem, thus why you're here, but do you really need to tell every detail when all you're doing is complaining about the same thing over and over? Comments are supposed to be solutions, not people . Does anyone have a solution to try?!?!
yeah that's true ..we just need a solution, so if anyone knows how to fix this problem without having to buy a new battery (cz i dont think that's the problem) please post ur comment!
I also bought my son a dell inspirion laptop 1525 in november 2008 and now we are having the same issues. i bought a new adapter which works the laptop and also bought a new battery and it still won't charged it says plugged in and battery is critical so what is going on. should not have these problems the computor is not that old.

DELL — battery charger

my service tag no. is JK6M3BS, its charger is not working since 16/7/2010, i tried calling dell all day long but was not able to connect to your technical support it kept saying, all our executives are currently busy, it kept me on phone for around 4 hours but still i didn't got any answer.Same case happened on 17 july and on 18 it said it is closed , and when i finally was able to connect on 19 i.e. monday they said your waaranty has expired on 16 july , however i recieved the laptop on 22/7/2009, please get my charger replaced as i have been trying to complaint from 16 but was not able to connect beacouse of poor services of your customer care. i request you to get my battery charger replaced.
I bought an Inspiron 1501 3 years ago and it is junk. SAme problem as all of you; it said not charging and it says at the beggining of booting "The ac adapter could not be verified. This will prevent optimal proformance. " Also it gets really hot when even going on the internet (AMD processer and/or battery). It is so hot it melted the stickers off the back and gave me burns (actual skin burns) when it was on my lap. It freezes in boot half of the time and turns off because of low power even when the ac adapter is plugged in. I have had the BSOD 5 times and overheat many. I have a $50 fan and that did nothing. I put an apple sticker on the palm rest to remind me of what I should have bought. Belongs in the trash.
