I agree, I have the same problem in Chennai. I submitted the claim through my office in January. I still have not heard from them. I'm out of the country and couldn't follow up. However, when my dad contacted them by phone, they said the claim application is received, but since they are going through some software update, it will be updated in a week online is what they said during the first week of April. No news yet. Dad tried contacting again. They are not answering phone calls.
PF office should understand that, the status information is very critical for every employee and that reduces unnecessary anxiety, which is not good for their health/life. I'm someone who is in immediate need of the settlement and this delay is just not doing any good to me.
Understanding our government procedures and processes, I'm willing to put up with the delay. But the least the government can do is, keep me updated on the progress.
