[Resolved]  ETS TOEFL IBT — RESCHEDULING CONTINUOUSLY

Subject: Unacceptable service by TOEFL examination Centers

I registered for TOEFL examination and was scheduled to take the test on the 10th of July at Everonn, Pondicherry. On the scheduled date I reported at the center on time and was shocked to be told by the Center management that the test was cancelled owing to reported power issue at the center. I was bluntly told to reschedule the test. I again registered for the test on July 24th at Phoenix Knowledge Service Private Limited, Chennai. On July 24th I reported at the Chennai center. To my dismay and disappointment, I was turned back again by the center - this time - reportedly of some Server issue. Without any responsibility, remorse or regret, I was sarcastically asked to reschedule my test for the 15th of August 2010.


I am unemployed and am desperately trying to improve the prospects of my future through better education. I was counselled to pursue education overseas. TOEFL and GRE are pre-requisites to secure admission for a higher degree overseas. The effort really costs me huge amount of money, time and energy. With the available resources with my family the above is nearly unaffordable proposition and I am working very hard to achieve my goal. The universities have planned dates for admission. If I miss the date, my next opportunity will be pushed by an year. Because of the irresponsible behaviour of the centers, now I am in a fix. The proposed TOEFL date is only 3 days before my scheduled GRE test, which is going to seriously impact my preparation and readiness for the GRE, leave alone the uncertainty of the test not taking place at the appointed time.

Because of the above behaviour of the test centers I am subjected to enormous pressure, mental torture, physical exertion and monetary loss. I am afraid that my objective of enrolling in a university may get very seriously impacted. I sincerely feel that the centers should be seriously audited, reprimended and if necessary shutdown as this might have been the case with lot many hapeless victims like me. I sincerely feel that I should be legitimately compensated, for the injustice meeted out to me and pain caused, at the minimum amount of Rs. 1,00,000/- I request the counsel to take appropriate action to save many souls like me being exploited and ill-treated and injured by the centers.

Test Center: Academic Campus Connections

This complaint is regarding my traumatizing experience during TOEFL test which I took on 12th December in "Academic Campus Connections" which is located at Punjagutta, Hyderabad.

This test was very expensive and very important in terms of my future plans. When I scheduled this test I was hoping for a hassle free experience. However the reality was very different.

My exam got interrupted thrice. Once when the system hung up. The second time when the RAM of the CPU failed and the third when the assistant shut the internet off.

But the most distressing part was the attitude of the test administrator who was very rude and very unhelpful.I've requested for a new system but she paid no heed. Instead of being empathetic about my situation she started getting defensive and kept arguing.

After such an experience I would like to lodge formal complaint against this center for what had transpired. I know I have a strong case as they have the whole session recorded through video surveillance
