[Resolved]  Hero Honda Hunk — engine over heating

Address:Bangalore, Karnataka

Hi Sir/Madam,
I purchased a new hero honda hunk motorcycle on 28 feb 2011 form sri sai motors bangalore. I have done approx 2100km. first service is done . Two weeks back when me and my wife was travelling byke got fire. All the cabling were burned. I got it repaired from nikhi motors, sadasiva nagar, bangalore yesterday[protected]. They said it was due to some short circuit. But after driving for 5 km i was able to feel the heat of the engine on my legs. Now the engine heating like anything now. When morning i started my byke idle rpm was 1400, after 1 km it increased to 2500. and the byke sounds like bullet. Now i strongly believe that the fire was due to engine over heating. At the time i complainted to hh regional office also. They didn't respond well. I send a mail to their customer care , i got a compaint number 22010649, but i didnt any response. I not confident to ride that byke any more without knowing the excact reason of the fire. So some one responsible seeing this post please respond with a solution in my personam mail -- [protected]@gmail.com

Thanks & Regards,
Mathew K A

Hi,
The problem seem to be very serious. Please check the followings:

1). If you are using correct grade of Engine Oil?
2). If the engine Oil level is substantially decreasing over time than of the way it decrease normally.
3). Please check the filter and its housings, and Air inlet chamber. By any means filter must not chock. If any confusion about the filter, replace it with a new one. Make sure that nothing is blocking in Inlet Air chamber housing under your seat.
4). If you have attached an Engine cover as a body kit. Do not use it, since the engine is Air cooled type and it needs easy air to be touched while the bike is running.
5). If you are riding the bike in lower gear substantially in higher speed, do not do it. Do not wait to shift the gear until the RMP meter touch or close to the red levels.
6). Do not push the throttle while waiting in neutral gear.
7). Do not wait in jam too long with a gear by pressing clutch liver.
8). Please check and adjust the correct engine race by variable control. Do not set it higher.

All above mentioned reasons are responsible for engine over heating. If all checks are done and still the problem exists. Then its a manufacturing fault which can be solved by Hero Honda.

Thanks
Shafquat
