[Resolved] Honda Unicorn — Mileage | |
Hi, I bought my Honda Unicorn in September 2008. It's just had 2 free services. The bike's performance has been excellent. But since the past few weeks I have been having problems with confused mileage. Why I say "confused mileage" is this. For a litre of petrol I would get b/w 52-56 km/ltr. But lately it has dropped to 40 km/ltr. I have verified the quantity of fuel to be 1 ltr at the bunk. When the mileage was checked at the Honda service center it gave me 5.7 Km/100ml. I made sure that the bike wasn't tuned before checkin the mileage so as to give them the exact figures. I was surprised by the outcome. Immediately after that when I checked the mileage by pouring 1 ltr in the tank, I ended up with 40 km/ltr! The service engineers tell me that the tank has some kind of a raised platform to the right so I have to get the fuel poured to the left side of the tank. Is there any logic in this? If that was the case why would I get 56 consistently? Have any of the users come accross such a weird problem? I have the same problem even with the Eterno. Please help me. Thank you. God bless. iam, having a unicorn 2008 edition the bike is excellent and till now i haven faced any such problem but the problem is that the black powder coating given on the macgwheel is very easily removable when ever the bike gets punthured while removing and fitting the tyre many white patches surrounding the macgwheel.the macgwheel looks very untidy beacause the inside silver colour can be easily seen rest all is ok. and please in the new bike please input a powerfull horn in future bcoz the horn wich comes till date is so weak that even the pillion rider cannot hear it

I bought Honda Unicorn 8 months back. for the first 2 months it delivered 53-54kms per litre. Since then (after the second Honda Free Service) i started getting a poor mileage between 35-40 per litre. I complained twice but all in vain. first time the honda people tuned my carbourator, cleaned the air filter recheked my break, cluch and wheels; it was of no use. Second time they opened the carbourater altogether and cleaned it again saying now it is 100% done. but to my surprise again my bike never went above 35km per litre. I am totally helpless as what to do now in this case. Can anbody guess what exactly the problem can be. Is with the engine or what??? please advise as how to deal with the honda people and what are other solutions. till date my bike has run over 6600kms approximately.

The problem is not with your bike. Its with the quantity of petrol that you are getting for 1lt in different filling stations. These days all filling stations are tampered. I faced similare issue. Its just because of petrol quantity and quality.
hi guys .. i got a unicorn 3 months back.. only one servise done.. but its giving me confused milege.. like it gave me 39 km/l when i got it from showroom ... but after 1 st servise it gave 49.. then after 2 days of service i filled vit 5 lit of petrol (completely checked) and made the trip to 0..but my bike came to reserve after i drived for some 160 km pls reply to this...
hi buddies, i purchased ma unicorn a year back n ma problem is mileage n chain noise.Firstly i wanna know y the mileage is not exceeding 40 km/l for ma bike and secondary why the chain noise is often heard even though the chain is adjusted frequently...nobody is doin the rite job in the company for these complaints wic i raised...plz anybody help me out in tis problem..try to gimme a solution for tis...

Seriously I have the same problem. When we drive the bike with 100 ml test it gave me amazingly 5.2 kmpl. but when full my tank to its capacity (12 ltrs) it gives me some where around 500 kms and comes to resrve (it means when divided by 12 comes to 41 kmpl) really dont understand the logic behind.

i read all complent, so i m confug about that, can i purcheas that bike?

Please check the avarage reserve to reserve every time, note down the reading when your bike gets reserved & then after fill the perrol what you want then after when it gets reserved measure how many KM bike ran from reserve to reserve and divide by how many litre pertol you filled. you got the exact milage.
i like this honda unicorn bike but his avearage is very poor than i am canfused this bike is very bad but are not broght the bike

I bought my Honda Unicorn in Nov 2008. It's just had 2 free services. The bike's performance has been excellent. There is compromise in any aspect since my driving quite rash i am getting the mileage of 55 upto the speed of 60 kmph. Be sure to turn off petrol valve in shutdown condition and keep the byke in idling condition in morning times for 30 sec @ 4000 rpm. its gives better results
