[Resolved]  Honda Unicorn — Defect in Bike and Customer Service

My name Arun Kumar and I bought a HONDA Unicorn from Didar Motors Chennai (#340 (old # 654), Anna Salai, Chennai – 600006) on 18th Feb 2008. The bike was good, until I found out this defect. This Unicorn Bike in allergic to water, the moment it gets wet the engine cools down and bike turns off. When I visited some websites to figure out what has gone wrong, I got replies from forum members saying it’s a common defect in UNICORN and I need to get this fixed. Being an Engineer I accept a defect can occur in a product, and I don’t blame HONDA for this. But what followed was even more surprising. First I went to Didar motors saying I have this problem, the guy had a look at the bike, looked at spark plug and then gave it back to me saying “Now it’s fine…” Four days after this had happened, we had rain in Chennai, and the same old problem reappeared. This time after completely getting myself drenched in rainwater I somehow managed to push my bike to a nearest service center JSP Honda Vepery. An authorized service center in charge gave me this reply “Sir. I understand your problem, but I suggest you to take it to Didar, we will have problems servicing it here”. Next day I went to Didar again, this time the person in charge of that service station said to a mechanic “Same problem which we had in the Black one, look into this…” I was finally happy; some one has recognized my bike’s problem. He got the bike back in 10 mins. I got even more excited thinking they have super mechanics who can fix such problems in matter of minutes. But I had doubts in my mind so finally decided to give it for First Service on 27th March (again in Didar). This time, I asked him to retest this problem. Next day I got the bike saying “It’s all fine….” Today 31st march again we had rain in Chennai, and again the problem reappeared. Again I took my bike to Didar at 6.15PM saying I have this problem, the attitude with which the person in charge replied to me has actually got me upset. The guy replied “Get the Bike tomorrow when it is raining, we will test drive the Bike in rain and then see what can be done….” in a manner, as if I am asking him for some HELP. I literally pleaded to him, to have my mike there and have a closer look at it. HONDA Company did not gift me this bike, I bought this Bike with my hard earned money for Rs 62, 160.00 + Rs 868.00 (accessories) and I expect only things which a person normally expects out of his Bike and nothing more. For all along I was quite, but now I feel things are going above a tolerable level. Consumer’s right should be protected, and it is not only the responsibility of a Company but also (Dealers, Sub dealers) every single person associated with it. I don’t know whom I should report this to, so I send this mail to every single mail ID of persons whom I think can really help me. I agree with u.i brought my uni frm om sai honda mahim mumbai & th service SUCKS ! They jst wash th bike & say they hv serviced it.they hv NEVER changed th oil & charged me 4 it.

Myself Patel Ravindrakumar from VALSAD (Gujarat) had brought my UNICORN on 1/11/07 and have many problems regarding the bike.

My last service was a on 4/3/09 at Valsad. My problem is that there is knocking in Engine so i complained about it to the service station Imperial Auto, VAPI (Gujarat). They told me to keep the bike for a week i.e. from 13/3/09. After doing the service they delivered me my bike on 18/3/09. They had replaced the various parts like Chain. Cam, Guide. Chain, Liftterasssy.Tensione, Tensioner Assy.C. for which they took labour charge 330/- Rs.

But on the very next day i had the same problem, so i again called them and again they replaced some parts like Cylinder, Gasket, Piston, Valve stick, Valve hex. on 24/3/09.

But today i.e. 25/3/09 while driving the bike it again suddenly stopped by making some noise.

After not satisfied with the services, i had to take this method of mailing.

Sir i dont know what to do.

Plz give me some favourable reply.

Honda Unicorn — Poor service, worst service

Honda service centres in Hyderabad ( Ranigunj, autofin [protected]@himayatnagar) are very bad, poor response, pathetic, hopeless, noword to explain their treatment...

Service(Workshop)Incharges at AUTOFIN HIMAYATNAGAR SHOW ROOM, HIS NAME Mallikarjun and another fellow Manoj both are very useless guys, sorry to use these owrds but i had to use it because they always bother about the money but not my problem, they didnt even check the bike and asked me to take my bike. wherein i had to go back to them again with the same complaints what i given in the log sheet yesterday... but still no use... very poor response from them... i had to sit 2-3 hours with them to recheck the bike's problem thet said no they cant do naything it seems and they charged 300 rs for not doing anything... great guys.. shame on thier part..

please ask them to shut down thier service centres or else replace them with the skilled labour..

I have booked for Honda unicorn(Black colour) in Gugunani Motors, Bhubaneswar giving Rs 5000/-. I will purchase this bike by HDFC Finance. Some body told me, this dealer takes some %(2.5) for commission like I have given 34000/-down payment then for rest amt (market price*2.5%), the dealer deducts from my down payment for it's commission which will not shown in bank statment, that means this distributor is cheating to customers.It decreases your goodwill.Perhaps they will give me this bike 23.05.09.

Sir pls.confirm me what should actual amount they will take from me for purchase cost including road tax & insurance by which I will show them this reply.

I have already booked for Honda Unicorn as on 15.05.09 in Gugnani Motors, Bhubaneswar, Orissa giving Rs.5000/- .They told me you will take your vehicle.after 5 days when I followed up and they are telling 1st week of june and now told me 10th of june you will be given.They are just like playnig with me. In between I also have given to you a mail but no reply.

If your esteemed organization will not provide me shortly this vehicle then I will go for Hero Honda Bike.

The above statements about Sapphire Honda, Bangalore seem to be true.

I also a bought a honda Unicorn, not because of the showroom but becos I likd the bike and this showroom was near my house.

After paying the amount in full also, the reps gave me the feeling that they are doing some kind of social service. As though they are giving away the bike for free. no courtesy, friendliness.

Also, Sapphire Honda showroom process is all run by OLD FOOLS. no understanding between each other and we have to be at the receiveing end even after paying so much of cash.

Next, i went for my first free service. On the day of delivery - bike wouldnt start self. They said battery has drained. OOPs!!!. A new bike which had run only around 300kms and Battery drained!!!. They put on the AUTCOP on the entire weeked and it was buzzing all the weeekend it seems. STUPID [censored]S.

I really doubt if they have any idea about service etiquettes.

My sincere request for all those bike Lovers... Please do not go to SAPPHIRE HONDA, J P NAGAR, BANGALORE. Go elsewhere.
My bike dosent start normally in the mornings.It has to be kick started and put on choke for about 5min to run properly.I even face this problem when the bike is left idle for few hrs even in the day.The people at the service center do not respond to this problem!!!
Hi this is saravanan i brought my unicorn bike 16/04/2008 at JSP Honda annanagar...when i brought my
bike on that day itself my disc brakes are not working properly iam not satisfied with the disc performnce
so i complined to the showroom people they said that disc is new so itwill take some time so wait for 1st service ok... then finally in 1st i compined about this problem to mechanic they in JSP service center in annanagar there told me that we will solve the problem. after i taken my bike than also iam not satisfied... after my free services are over then the service center peoples are telling u should changes the Mascylinder then only it will work properly... Service is so bad in Honda

Honda Unicorn — Engine

i took the bike in the Decemeber 2008- from starting onwords the enginee is shaking ( jerking after the first starting ), the same was complaint to concernd Planet honda banglore, the same was not rectified for the whole 4 services. it is very bad to intimate. we buyed 4 unicorn bikes, now onwords we are shifted
to take another company. the response not at all getting clearly from the showrooms.

Mikage is also getting very low, its giving 42 kilometers per litre. just with in sixmonths its drastically down.

Please let me know if you have any concerns.

Dear All,

Even I purchased unicorn bike 3 years back, and from the first day my bike was giving handal bubbling problem at speed about 50 KMPH or more. I tried to get solution from Honda dealers but they keep me going here and there, even I tried contacting HONDA care but all gone in wain, Actually problem with honda is they don't care at all about there customer to whom they sold their bike once.

Later I filled a case against HONDA in consuller court, and I won the case in the lower court, but here also HONDA tried to cheat me they went to State commission but tried notice not to deliver to me, even there also they filled case after time given by the lower court to give me compansation and new bike. now this case is pending in State commission.

Also want to tell you that there lawer say me many times you withdrow your case or we will keep you going like this and at last we will not give you anything. Its being more then 3 yrs. but still waiting for my bike to get fixed or replace or proper justice.

I too fan o[censored]nicorn enjoyed riding of it in heavy rainy days at coimbatore around 68 Kilo meters in non stop rainings. My bike doesn't got switched off or didn't caused me any trouble in starting it after a long idle at my house in that rainy season. Long idle which includes a chill climate where the bike was parked and in the morning too it was too chil climate and I started the bike with out any trouble. Hope there will be problem with the fuel used or the spark plug must got dusted because of bad quality of fuels.

Honda Unicorn is best in class of 150 CC.

i have booked a Honda Activa Black scooter on 28/5/2009 by paying Rs. 500/- as advance through Hosur Dealer. Yesterday when I visited the dealer, he says it will take one more month tomake delivery. please look into my grievance

my name is renjith r nair, i have lot of complaints regaring my silver unicorn bike .buyed last month of 2008, its performance was too bad and service providing by marikar motors trivandrum was too bad, they are only good in taking the money not good in services, for what based you are providing a 1 year warranty, my bike speedo meters cable was unfunctioning they told me they provide a warranty for that, it was the techinical mistake and y they dont provide the warranty, , , , , , , , , , , , after using my bike i had feel some difficulties to ride my bike like sound occurs from chain sproket, sound from the mudgraurd, difficulty to start, smoke occurs, light was fallen on somewher else not on road, sound occurs while using clech and accelator, low mileage, difficulty in gear shifting and some varity sound occurs when rear and front break and many more complaints i cant explain
i gave to service for 2 times with all these complaints and result is same thing, only they do washing the bike and do the main fault and taking more money for their service charge than other things,
then what is the use of your service centers and others warranties, i thought local work shop is more good than you,
if you r a right person then help me to smoothe ride, tghere is no other option than a consumer complaints in front of me, i will file a complaint if there is no response from your side, its tooo bad ok and also i will not gave any charge for any complaints yet more

My name is Sushant, i reside at Colaba in South Mumbai. I purchased Honda Unicorn on 29th June 2009, but i heard that we need to pay for the engine oil at the every service. However, according to the service book states that oil will also be changed without any charges, then why there is always a concern about this. Honda company is cheating people. We need to let the media know about it as soon as possible.
