[Resolved] India Post — Delay and non-delivery/theft | |||
Dear Forum, The post office at Sakinaka "serves" my area in Powai. The postman brings the mail only once in three weeks and gives it to the building security personnel to distribute. I have spoken to the postal officials and they admit they collect all the mail and deliver it only once in a while because they cannot go all the way for just a few letters to be delivered !!! As a consequence, bills are usually received very late - past the due date. Some are not received at all. Especially subscriptions from overseas do not come by courier and come by regular post in India because it is mailed by regular post from abroad. In a year, I receive 2 or maximum 3 magazines that too very late instead of 1 each month. I have spoken to the organisation sending it and they confirm they have despatched them all. Somehow it never reaches here. A wedding invitation has been received 2 months after the wedding date. I am certain it was posted atleast 3 weeks before the wedding date. As I was unaware of the date I could not send my greetings in time. Such instances causes bad feeling among relations. Complaints to various persons in the postal department have not yielded any results. If I expect urgent mail I have had to go personally on a number of occasions and request the postal clerks to check if some of my mail is being held there for delivery. I do not think this is the correct way to run this service. If the postal department cannot do their work sincerely they should be privatised.
