[Resolved]  India Today Book Club — Non receipt of free gifts

I have paid in full the amount Rs. 1099 in cash for which I was supposed to have been given 8 Music CDs produced by Music India, one Reebok T-shirt and One Bag. I received the Cds on 27th March. I tried to log on to the website intimated by India Today group www.bookstoday.in/promos.htm, but could not. I tried calling teh land line number[protected] and was told the website is out of order and till the website is restored nothing can be done about the free gifts. I have been given a number but if the claim is not made within two months the claim is automatically invalidated. What can I do?

I am facing the same problem. I am fail to understand that such a prestigious group can make fool to it's own customers. By this way they are not saving the free gifts' amount but loosing their credibility which is priceless. Hope they will understand and rectified the fault at the earliest, as so much people can speak wrong.

I agree with you Mr. Vikas, even I am facing problem with this ITBC, it is more than 1 month and I have not received my ordered Reebok Fitness Kit.

Now I curse myself for ordering, also feel I have learnt this lesson a hardway.

India Today Book Club — Non Reciept of Ordered Items

I have booked for Reebok shoes + Free kit on 25th of Feb 2009. The Booking Id : [protected]. After that I have gone thru the web to know about their reliablity and was surprised to see so many complaints against them. I wanted to cancel that booking. but failed as they told that the order is alreay under process. Its been one month neither I recive anything nor the order get cancelled. I tried to call them but no one responds. Please take severe action against them so that they will not cheat people again.

India Today Book Club — Non delivery of purchase and free gifts

Hello there,

I am Parveen Sharma, India Today book club member since more than one year (my membership number is: ITBC[protected].

Through this communication, I wanted to share “dismal” customer experience that I am experiencing since last one month.

On Feb 23, 2009:
I received a call from India Today sales team and placed a order of Rs 2589/- (collection of some books, one holiday voucher, return ticket and entry to 60 lakhs sweepstakes). At the time of booking, I was told that all the gifts would be delivered within 25 days. I was also give the order tracking number:[protected] against this transaction.

On Mar 09, 2009:
I called up India Today book club customer care number @[protected] to check status of above mentioned order and to my surprise Mr. Ankit told me that the order was not processed yet and would be delivered in another week’s time. He also confirmed that above mentioned order tracking number should be used for all the future reference.

On Mar 19, 2009:
Given that extended one week window was expired, I again called up same customer care number and spoke to Mr. Amit. After mentioning the order tracking number, I had to explain Mr. Amit about the issue I experience in details. As a response, Mr. Amit told me that the shipment has been dispatched on Mar 04, 2009 with speed post consignment no: ED[protected]IN. I immediately checked the status of mentioned speed post online (http://www.indiapost.gov.in/Speednew/Track3.aspx?articlenumber=ED[protected]IN) and found that there is no data available against mentioned reference number. Mr. Amit then insisted me to check in the local post office and when I countered his argument to check it at his end (since it’s India Today book club’s responsibility to deliver goods), he promised to call back by coming Saturday i.e. Mar 21, 2009. I also told Mr. Amit that I am planning to refer Consumer Court if this issue is not resolved soon.

Pls note that I haven’t received any update on Mar 21, 2009 as was promised.

On Mar 23, 2009:
To my surprise, I received a call from India Today book club. This time name of representative was Mr. Mukesh. He greeted me and introduced himself in very humble way, for the moment I thought this would be end of problem and this guy is having some good news. To my surprise, this time call was from another sales representative and he offered me another set of goodies at nominal price. When I told him about my experience (so far), he hanged up call by advising to call customer care. I followed his instructions and called up above mentioned customer care number again, this time it was Ms. Priya on the call. For the first 5 mins she wasn’t able to track my order and asked so many ir-relevant questions; once she understood the problem, she also repeated the old response that shipment has been dispatched on Mar 04, 2009 with speed post consignment no: ED[protected]IN etc. I asked her to connect to someone her senior so that I could escalate the issue. As a response, she said her seniors are busy at the moment and gave me a complaint number (i.e. 33498) and advised to wait for another 1 week. I asked her why her company didn’t update me on Mar 21, 2009; she responded that at customer care they don’t have facility to call customers. I was wondering why someone made false promise at first time.

After so much hassle, and spending my time and money on follow-ups, I am banking on this mail to get at least some tangible answer and response.

I hope someone would look into this matter and come up with the solution.

On 16.03.09 I got the parcel containing CDs, Bag and Purse. I was advised to log on to www.bookstoday.in/promos.htm for free gifts. Since then I am trying to log on the site but never succeed.
On many occasion I sent emails to them, apprising my problem and every time I received a sterio type
reply to log on the site and claim the free gift. On going thru this site I came to know that there are so many people who are facing the same problem. Such a thing is not expected from such a reputed concern LIVING MEDIA INDIA LTD. I think they should take a corrective measure to solve the matter to save a bad name.

Living Media India Limited/ India Today Book Club — Non-receipt of free merchandise as promised.

I had ordered an eight CD pack as advertised in my mail vide the following details:-

5. Recd the parcel today, 30/03/09 vide VPP and paid the amount by cash.

Called the no- [protected] and was told to open a particular site which is not responding or opening.
How do I claim my free gift ? ... or is this just another hoax?

India Today Book Club — Non-receipt of Books/Gifts (CDs)

Hi,

I am so glad to see so many other complaints, as I thought I was one of the very few guys to be fooled by India Today group. While they were prompt in charging my Credit card, I haven't received the books or the CDs (Gift pack) even after 2 years, several dozen complaints via phone and mails. But surprisingly all other useless spam with their mailer catalogs keep coming home. So are their mail based clutter. While I lost a Rs, 1000 it's a big lesson in not trusting these media groups, as they have no ethics whatsoever. I have also been creating an awareness amongst neighbours and office colleagues about this India Today scam, and this is a new forum that I found just today and ensured that I contribute my voice to at least save some other innocents falling victims.

If so many complaints are coming for non reciept of free gifts as shown on internet.

Then complaint should be filed in CBI of duping so many poeple by shownig such

promos. Atleast from my side if I do not get the gifts as promised I will file complaints

against the Company for duping me in CBI branch dealing with cyber crimes.

after opening we found only 8 no CDS. on both side of cds there are thermocoal sheets.
kindly confirm that the cds were only send.
