Indian Railways — Non refund of e ticket for the cancelled trains

I have booked e-tickets having the following details:
PNR No.
1. [protected]
2. [protected]

Unfortunately both the trains got cancelled due to Gujjar and Sikh agitation respectively. The tickets could not be cancelled due to ' chart already prepared' message. I sent an email to etickets @irctc.co.in and got the reply that the matter has been forwarded to the Railways and it may take 90 days or more for the refund if any.

My submission is that why e-ticket passengers are being penalised for no fault of theirs. I request you to kindly give a serious look into the matter. I am enclosing the correspondance with [protected]@irctc.co.in for your reference.

CORRESPONDANCE WITH [protected]@IRCTC.CO.IN
Dear Customer,

Kindly note that your train is not marked as “CANCELLED” in PRS due to floods, accidents, breaches etc. In this case we are forwarding your case to railways for the TDR process. Railways check all the matters and decide what amount should be refunded and this all process takes 90 days or more. Once the railways refunded your amount, we will credited to your same account.

Regards,
Amit Rana

Dear Sir,

Please note that my family was supposed to travel from Ludhiana by Paschim express (2926) on 25.06.2008. The Train has been cancelled due to sikh agitation in punjab. But the ticket is not getting cancelled due to chart already prepared message.

The details of the ticket are as follows:

PNR No: [protected]

Paschim Express

Dated 25.06.2008.

I have been tracking the train running information since morning and have found that the train running status was being updated religiously from station to station by Railways even when the train was stranded at the starting station. Perhaps this was delibrately done to prevent passengers to cancel tickets.

Earlier also the similar incident has happened with me on 28.05.2008 when the train was cancelled due to Gujjar agitation but the ticket could not be cancelled due to the same reason mentioned above. The PNR No of that ticket is [protected].

I am really pained to state that the government controlled entity like Railways is resorting to such manipulations and duping innocent passengers of their hard earned money.

Please arrange to refund the money for the tickets with the PNR Nos. mentioned above at the earliest.

I will wait for one week and thereafter lodge a complaint with the consumer court and at the same time will get this information flashed in all the leading websites / newspapers.
