[Resolved]  Inox — charging money for 3D glasses and not returning the deposit amount on returning the glasses.

Address:Rajasthan

was watching the 7 pm show of Any Body Can Dance at INOX Crystal Palm, Jaipur on 14th of Feb. This was a 3 D show. I had booked the tickets online and when I went to pick up the ticket right before the show, I was asked to pay Rs 50 deposit per ticket for the 3 D glasses. I of this rule, as many movie theater charge a certain amount for the 3D glasses which is returned to the customer once we return the glasses. This was my second 3D movie in INOX jaipur, the first begin Life of PI, wherein I had paid the money for the 3D glasses and got the entire amount back on returning the glasses.

However on this instance I was extremely shocked when the person selling told me that on returning the 3 D glasses after the movie I would not get back my entire refund of Rs 50 and but only Rs 30 and the remaining Rs 20 would be kept as "service charge". I was extremely shocked to learn this and this is the the most absurd thing I have ever heard. How can you possible charge money for a 3D glass when I am returning the glass to you. It is not a piece of food that I am eating half and returning half that you are going to charge money for it. Even a poster was put up stating that from 1st February this is the new policy.
I tried to reason with the person who was selling tickets and he had no idea why this new rule was put in place and could give absolutely no justification for it. Since we were running late for the movie I did not get a chance to speak to the GM of the movie theater and thus I am writing to you.

If this was not bad enough, when we started watching the movie, we realized that the 3D glasses were of such poor quality and in such bad conditions that soon our eyes started hurting and head started hurting from wearing the glasses. One of my friends even received a broken 3D glass. We even got our glasses exchanged but still even the new glasses were of just as poor quality. Our heads were hurting so much that we did not even use the glasses but watched the 3D movie with our open eyes.

This has been an extremely disappointing and dissatisfying experience at INOX. I cannot really believe that you are actually charging money to use 3D glasses? what kind of exploitation of customers is this. This is the most obscure thing that I have ever come across. How can you possible charge move for using a 3D glass. Anyway a 3D movie ticket costs more than a 2D movie and that is understandable Over and above that you are charging Rs 20 for using the 3D glass?? and even after that the condition of the 3D glasses are so bad that you cannot even watch the movie properly in them.

This is really exploitation of the customer. Especially in Jaipur, where most people are dependent on INOX for watching English movie or even 3D movies. I guess you are already aware that no other movie theater across India is using a policy like this. I don't know whether this charge for 3D glasses is being implemented all over India or just special treatment for people in Jaipur but I demand an explanation for this. I guess you are aware that other movie theaters like PVR or DT etc don't even charge any deposit for using 3D glasses.

I am ok with the fact that you charge an amount for the 3D glasses as a security for damage to the glasses but you are expected to to return that money just like every other security deposit is returned on returning the 3D glasses at the end of the movie.

Again I would like to reiterate that i am extremely disappointed and i expect a solution to this problem. Please give me an explanation for this new rule and I think if you are interested in retaining your customer then you should better do away with this rule.

I can vouch for this. I had a similar experience during watching Star Trek Into Darkness 3D in Jaipur. Despite it being written on the website of INOX that only a fully refundable deposit of 30 Rs is needed for the 3D glasses, the employees insisted on charging 20 Rs (a deposit of 50 Rs and a refund of 30 Rs) for availing the facilty! Blatantly looting the public, and I hope INOX saves its brand name by bringing a swift end to this illegal practice.
Its been 4 years, and still no change. They continue to do it. At inox today, i was not billed for 3d glasses but charged for it. So this entire money is going unbilled.
