[Resolved]  Insurance Verification Department — LIC policy bonus amount

Address:Gujarat

I got a call to my landline saying from Insurance verification department. They said I have been rewarded a bonus amount and my agent is trying to take 40% commission. They asked me to submit Id proof, address proof and a cancelled cheque with Rs 20000 in the name of reliance life insurance. I couldn't trace the number from which call came. I asked them if they could give their number, they denied. I asked them where from they got my landline number, they said from lic india profile. i checked my profile while talking to them and found that no land line number is registered. these kind of calls are threat to safety of citizens.

I have been getting this call since yesterday. First the lady spoke to my wife since i was not home. She said that they were about to cancel a bonus cheque in my name, but will send it if she could verify the policy details. My wife told her to call this morning. When I spoke I asked her which policy of mine was I entittled the bonus for, and how come it did not show in my premium notice. She said it was a policy taken before 2010. I got suspicious and asked to speak to her branch or divisional manager. I was kept holding for a while and then a man came on the phone speaking like a PSU officer. He gave a name and said he was calling from New Dellhi and that I should share the policy details if I wanted the cheque to be not cancelled. I told her that all my LiC policies had an ECS direct credit mandate and all previous payments had come directly to the bank account, so why was LiC suddenly writing cheques. He said this was a one time special bonus for loyal customers. It took into account all the policies I hold. At which point I knew that he was lying, LIC branch I deal with does not even accept payments for a policy issued by another branch...I asked again for his phone number but he was unwilling to give his phone number or branch number. So I refused to give him any information. But even as I was talking he disconnected the phone.

My question is: What could they do with the policy number? What is the scam they are running? Any ideas?

LIC — not getting the bonus of 40%

I am having the money back policy no[protected] and paid the preimium in time .I have received the bonuses of 30% and 30% well in time .And the last bonus which should have reached by april 2009 is still due on the side of LIC and when I inquired of it I came to know, that the agent who did the policy had ran away with the bonus cheque . The Branch Manager of the LIC Unit III, KOTA, RAJASTHAN has promised me of getting the payment by saturday i.e.20/6/2009 but nothing has come out and I am still suffering of the delay of the payment and my due date was 28/4/09. So I am bringing this into your kind attention .It is already about two months past of the bonus and one losses his patience
Hi Akheesh. Even I got a call from a lady claiming to be from LIC office. She asked about my dad's policy's no., date of birth, mobile number & address. When I asked her from where is she calling & why is she asking for these details, she said that she is calling from the verification department of LIC, Hyderabad & said that many customers complain that their agents do not inform them about the benefits one can reap from the policy. This is because they get a 45-50 % commission. Then she asked for the policy no. so that she can check the bonus & other details regarding our policy. I asked her to wait for sometime & after 10 mins I asked her to provide her telephone no. as it will take some time to check dad's policy no. but she refused saying that it is confidential & they could not provide their no. like this. She said that she will call again after 10 mins. But I asked her to call back after 30 mins.
She was speaking with confidence, but what made me doubt her was the excess sweetness in her voice & the fact that she called me 3 times in a day; as I asked her to call back after sometime as dad was not home & made her wait as I was finding the details but even then she was ready to hang on to the phone call.
In the meantime I called the LIC office & told them about the whole incident, they said that it is all fake. They do not provide any such service.
After 30 mins she called me back, I told her that I have got all the information about the policy that she was about to give me from sector 80's office (although there is no such office in sector-80, Noida) & I have discussed it with my agent as well. Now I do not have to provide you the policy number. She was convinced & hang up the phone.
I just want to tell you all please do not give your personal information to someone on the phone even if he/she claims to be a real person from some known organization. Report such activities to the LIC office & bring it to the public notice or they will dupe us.
Hi,
I just got the similar call on my landline from I.Singh Chauhan saying it is a insurance verification call from Hydrabad insurance verification department. He was asking for all my policy number, DOB. he was chasing me from last two days. When I said you are a fraud, then he has given me his I.D. No. 5A62D9; I.S. Chauhan. When I said O.K. I will give this No. to police for further verification, he immediately putdown the phone.

I have inquired from the LIC India office and they have confirmed that there is no such department. So please be careful.
I also got call from person claiming from Insurance verificatioon department at LIC in my land line . I purposely told him to call my mobile number so that i can have that number.

I got call from[protected] and he talked about bonus accumulated and given my correct home address and asking about personal information.

I tried to call that number but i am not able to get that number and call is disconnected.

they are calling land line and getting home address by BSNL directory.

Do not believe on them and do not give any information.

Above phone number is enough to give to police so that they can trace them.
I got a call to my landline number (which I do not mention anywhere usually) from a lady who claimed to be from Delhi Verification Dept of LIC and told me that my policy got some bonus and it was about to expire as it was not claimed in last 8 months. When I told her to give me policy number she said she doesn't have that and she only has file no and BT (bonus token) number which she shared. She said I can refer to my policy doc for policy num, I told her that I have multiple policies so I need her to tell me the details. She gave me another number, the DD head, Neha Mishra - [protected]. After that she started asking me the policy amount, my profession, who in my family makes financial decisions etc, which I denied to shared. When I asked why she needs all that info, she started giving some unconvincing answers which made me to check if any such cases are reported online. Thanks to everyone for sharing their experiences.

I received yesterday a similar call from no : [protected] as Ajit Rane from LIC claiming that my LIC policy bonus was denied by me or by my agent and to get it back i need to submit some documents like ID proof, address proof etc. When asked about details he gave only a file no and said there will be another call to provide more details . Accidentally i have given my new address but now after seeing all these complaints I wonder what they may plan to do further with it.
These kind of incidents should be warned by LIC through SMS to its customers before someone get into this. How many o[censored]s do really look into LIC site frequently for such notifications .
Please spread the message and do the needful.
I've just been at the receiving end of the same Fraud. One Mrs. Poonam Mishra calling from no. [protected] and one Mr. Rajeev Malhotra whose number is [protected].
The story is a long one but I saved myself of being defrauded of Rs. 25000/-.

Thank god for not being greedy.

LIC must bring these people to book.
This thread was extremely useful as I put the caller on hold and checked online for the authenticity. I too was initially duped into providing all my policy info to the lady Sonal who called mentioning the same bonus declaration and that 40% will go to my agent and rest only after maturity if I do not claim the same by verifying. I kept asking how they got my land line number as I have never mentioned in my LIC records, they said they had details from sources and gave me a docket number to prove they are genuine. Thankfully I got to know from all of you above that this is a fake scam racket, I scolded the lady, told her I am aware of their games, and disconnected the call.

When, I started posing him various questions like against which policy this bonus is to be given, branch and the place. He could not answer the same and I asked him why the insurance company has not informed regarding the bonus in return or by mail and when any of the premium will be falling due same will be imitated in written . He had no answer .
he kept me holding for 5 minutes and disconnected .
this kind of fraud teams has to be brought to justice and punish as per the law.

On 6th Feb 2016 I received a call from a person on my landline number claiming to be from Insurance Verification Dept who took all my details - PAN, Aadhar, mobile number, name of nominee in the policy, my date of birth etc., and when I informed him that I am in touch with my LIC agent will that I will speak to my agent in this regard he hung up. Before that he mentioned that my policy has been given a bonus of about 1.2 lakhs with file no.SMR09142DA. I knew it was a scam of some sort but could not place it properly. The caller did not mention anything about making out a cheque nor did he ask me for my account number (which I would not have divulged anyway). I do not know what sort of a scam was this and what they intended to do with the details collected from me. I just saw this site and I am sharing my experiences as those of the others. -- SWAMINATHAN

I Ram Suresh Shukla got a call from Insurance Verification Dept. that an amount is pending with the department Rs1, 80, 560/- . Kindly note the customer Id [protected] and code[protected] ad Your file No. RB0726899 and Pin No. PN0899271. He asked who is your nominee and your date of Birth, mobile no. etc and asked that your Pancard, voter ID and aadhar Card, Cross Cheque and a Cheque amount Rs24000/- as service tax refundable with 1000 less i.e Rs23000/- and PP size photograph 2 nos. Mr Amit Verma Mob [protected] and Today I received a call from Ravi Mittal. Be aware of such calls. He said need not to disclose to anyone. KIndly arrange Rs24000/- immediately.
I received the similar call today from LIC Verification department, where the person explained me the same logic of 40% dividend that is associated with my policy by private fund investment. And took the details like
1. name
2. dob
3. marital status
4. How I make my payments (via agent or self ?)
5. If Self, then via online mode or cheque?
6. LIC Agent name and code ( and saying they are blicking it as the agent has not provided me enough information) . I accidentally agreed that i am not in touch with my agent and they keep on insisting that the amount of 1lakh 42 thousand can be claimed by me.
Then after taking all this info and providing me a file case number IRA97004can/LIC he transferred my call to his senior Raj Malhotra. This guy then started explaining me the process of self claim of that amount and he has blocked the agent ID due to not performing his duties correctly.
He gave me an option if I have any Insurance client ID. I said no, what is that? He explained me that it is an ID associated to an individual when he passes an insurance exam. And for claim i have to create one.
I said, OK what is the exam process. He said its a training plus exam.
When i argued that dividend of my money, should be given to me without any exam then he said that it is a separate amount then than the maturity amount and is usually claimed by agents.
On further argument, I said that it seems to be a fraud call, I don't want to claim any amount and better to give it to my agent.

After some time the first person called me again to persuade and when i scolded him that its a fraud call and i have confirmed it from an actual LIC agent, then he started convincing that it is not fraud and i should not claim that. Then he disconnected the phone.
I am worried that with above information, what benefit they can get? Can they hack the policy or bank linked to the mobile number. I am worried please suggest.
Number from which i recieved the call is [protected]
The number who said he is calling from Insurance verification department the number was [protected].
