[Resolved]  IRCTC agent — Overcharging of fare & commission

Respected Sir/Madam,

IRCTC’se-TicketingService-ElectronicReservationSlip Overcharging & misbehavior by the Agent

I wish to bring to your kind notice an incident of overcharging and misbehavior by the ITCTC’s agent. Being a retired citizen and heart patient I preferred to get an e-ticket from the agent Shri Amit Jain, M/s Amit Auto Spares, Shop No 130 12, Kamla Market, Khandsa Road, GURGAON 110 057 (Haryana) a day before my journey on 31st January 2010 from Bahadurgarh to Bathinda by train no. 2481 (INTERCITY EXPRESS). My son, who booked the ticket on my and my wife’s behalf, tendered Rs.500/- currency note to Mr. Jain who in turn handed over the ticket and returned Rs.250/. On checking the ticket my son found that the total chargeable amount comes to Rs.218.97 as detailed hereunder-
Total fare for second class Rs.182.00
IRCTC service charge Rs. 15.00
Transactionl charge Rs. 1.97
Agent’s charge @ Rs.10/- per ticket Rs. 20.00
TOTAL Rs.218.97
My son, therefore, asked the agent to return the balance amount of Rs.31.00 but Shri Jain refused and misbehaved with my son advising that the amount would not be returned come what may. I, therefore, earnestly request your good self to look into the matter and take suitable steps to avoid such overcharging and harassment to the old people like me & my wife.

Dear Sir/Madam,

I totally agree with the fact that such issues of overcharging and customer harrassment has been happening in many places in the country by some money minting agents on behalf of IRCTC.

I would like to bring to your kind notice a similar incident and ordeal that I had to face at the following agent in Vasco, Goa

OK Travels,
Opp. Railway Station, Vasco Da Gama,
Goa Ph No [protected]

While initially the agent confirmed that the agent service charge for booking a sleeper class ticket is Rs 30/-, I was actually charged Rs 75/- for the same and upon arguing on the service charge, the misbehaviour on part of the agent was very much synonymous with the exhorbitant service charge. Its sad that such agents are out there to bring down the reputation of IRCTC as well as portray a sorry picture of the customer care guidelines laid down by IRCTC.

I request the concerned authority to either monitor and take strict action against such agents (ban them) so that such acts are not repeated in the future or scrap the agent system totally and open up IRCTC kiosks in major hubs around the country so that faithful customers like us who value your service are not bogged down by such money minting agents.

Thanking You

Sincerely
Vishal
