[Resolved]  Irctc — Pathetic website & customer support system

Dear Sir,

I tried to book a ticket for two on 5th November, 2007 using the online ticket booking system of Indian Railways. Before I could get the confirmation of the booking the session expired. I checked the booking status in my IRCTC account but there was no update there. On checking the transaction's status in my credit card's account I found that payment had been done. I called to IRCTC help desk on 6 November, 2007 where I was told that the transaction would be reverted back within 2-3 days. After waiting for more than 10 days my bank (HDFC) still claims that the transaction has not been reverted back from Indian Railway's side. The details of the ticket, transactions, and my IRCTC account are as such:

I have lost my patience after calling again and again on the IRCTC customer care numbers[protected],[protected],[protected],[protected],[protected]. First of all no one dares to answer the phone, and on that the system is so bad that it automatically disconnects you after a certain interval of time. This means just keep calling and praying that someone will answer the call. I also tried to send emails to both `[protected]@irctc.co.in` as well as `[protected]@irctc.co.in` but all in vain.

This is when I just want to know the status of transaction for the tickets that couldn't book. I don't know what would happen to others. The IRCTC website has no instruction about where to go and what to do in case customer care and emails fail. I am in an absolute chaos now and have almost left the hope for refund. It would a real miracle if something comes out of this post.

I tried booking tickets from meerut to mumbai central for 7th march 2010 on 30th jan and i got the status as booking failed but money was deducted from my account...what the hell it is... on top of it the customer care service of IRCTC is pathetic of no use as thye don't respond only...i want my money back or get my tickets done...

i think you are not up to that level ie providing best atleast better service to your customers...

while the transaction is in process suddenly ur webpage will be down for that we need to pay ie the amount will be transfered to uraccount from ours

this is very bad and too worst

again by what time we will get back our money to our account we only dont know

2.berth allotment is too bad and too worst

they are not giving preferences to age and gender

they will do as they want

but when coming to distributors they can get what they want

change ur futures so that custome like me will not suffer

try to solve the problem as early as possible

Before I could get the confirmation of the booking the session expired. I checked the booking status in my IRCTC account but there was no update there. On checking the transaction's status in my credit card's account I found that payment had been done. I mailed to IRCTC Care on the same day twice but couldn't get any response. If I would get the PNR no., I can cancel the ticket atleast in time. My ticket is for 27th March 2010. I'm feeling very bad for such type of harrashment without any fault of mine.

i dont know your prospector
IRCTC should have remove Tatkal sewa booking online. I don't remember the IRCTC login page is to working by 8:AM to 8:30 AM. I think IRCTC has tied up with agent to booked all the tatkal ticket in the duration of this time daily basis.. Getting error message service is unavailable.

don't ever trust IRCTC i am in the same situation many a times, they never ever revert back- i will blame the system rather than the people working at the cal centre. They are just hopeless they can ever be
but one thing is that so far i use my ICICI bank card and money is refunded 3 -4 5 days later. But the site is just A CORRECT WORD HORRIBLE SPECIALLY IN THE PEAK HOURS- N YOU NEVER EVER WILL BE SUCCESSFUL TO BOOK TATKAL OR A TICKET BOOKING 90 DAYS IN ADVANCE DURING PEAK SEASON, THE INTERNET JUST HANGS, FORGET EVEN A SNAILS SPACE. I FEEL THE SNAIL US MUCH BETTER, I WONDER WHEN THEY WILL SPEED UP THINGS, AND THE WORST PART NOW IS THAT WHEN U CALL 139 CALL CENTRE IT SI ONLY IVRS NOT ANY SOUL ANSWERS YOUR CALL AND YOU KEEP PRAYING. BAD TO WORSE THE MAIL TRAINS BRING IN ALL THEIR FILTH THAT IS EMPTIED AT EVERY FLUSH THAT IS PULL IN THE TOILET. cAN THE RAILWAYS DO SOMETHING AT ALL THE STATION LIKE FLUSHING THE TRACKS OFTEN OR OPENING A RESERVE CONTAINER WHENEVER THE TRAIN REACHES ANY STATION SO AS NO HUMAN WASTE FALLS ON TO THE TRACKS, WHEREBY THEY CAN OPEN THE DIRTY CONTAINER AT MAIN STATION RESERVOIR

i had the same experience recently and i have sent a complaint through their official website also.I think there is a clear nexus between the Rly Staff and the private operators . Let the INDIAN RLY be privatised or handed over to TATA immediately.
Yes these guys are pathetic, see the website is decorated with whole lot of offers, obviously fleece people and make money, I got some e-tickets canceled, while everything is done, i[censored]pon booking a ticket payment taken by them is immediate, so why does the refund not immediate upon cancellation?

Worst part is nowhere in the site I could locate as to when does the canceled amount reversal done electronically. I think these people are not yet prepared to handle customers, there customer care numbers do not answer, hence people should write these people off and revert to traditional ways of acquiring tickets. It appears there's no check on these people and government officials supposedly delegated to monitor all this must be happily going to work... waiting impatiently for next month's salary???

IRCTC — charged unduly for ticket that couldn't be booked

I tried to book an e ticket from delhi to lucknow for 16/07/2010 using a debit card of one of my friend as i didn't have money in my bank account. After enetering all card details i was waiting for the confirmation of the booking but suddenly the servers on irctc went down and the transaction failed. i didn't recieve anything as a proof of booking but later found out that the money has been taken away from my friend's bank account.This is not fair on part of irctc. I request to pls sort this out asap and give us refund

I met with the same situation on the 28th August, 2010, when i was trying to book by tickets on line ( for our journey in November'10, , ) using my SBI debit card. The transaction did not complete and I could not get thr e-ticket. But the amount was found to have been debitted from my savings a/c. I was desperate to contact the customer service(?) of SBI as well IRCTC . IN vain. I am unable to send immediately any written complaint as i am away from india. Further the customer service phones of SBI / IRCTC were found to be bogus phones as no one was lifting them. It is unfortunate that I have to struggle again, god bless, I get my money back...

While I am trying to book ticket with my User ID : Sankar3184 on 05.09.10 from Chennai Central to Chengannur for Trivendrum Mail 2623 for the date 01.12.2010, due to connection problem I failed to get ticket. Before I could get the confirmation of the booking the session has expired. I checked the booking status in my IRCTC account but there was no update there. On checking the transaction's status in my dedit card's account I found that payment had been done for Rs. 332/-. So please cancel the transation and credit back the amount to the SBI savings account number [protected] with ATM card No[protected] of Y P CH Sekhar Rao

I tried to book 3 tickets on 10th sep 2010 using the online ticket booking system of Indian Railways through SBI DEBIT CARD. Before I could get the confirmation of the booking the session its saying service unavilable. I checked the booking status in my IRCTC account but there was no update .Two updates are there in the failed transactions. On checking the transaction's status in my credit card's account I found that payment had been done.I lost my 1150 RS.Second time also i tried to book the ticket the same happened again.Again i lost 1150 RS.Pls help me sir.

dear sir which time i am trevel for train that time i have not orignal ID then TT fine me and told if you any station show orignal ID profe & that slip that time you get fine money.so i go nearest station and show that slip, ID profe & ticket .he told taht slip no. not up to date .I want know how get money ?
