on 3.08.2009 i logged into my account with IRCTC, Login ID: mbrng to make ticked from Asansol to Kanpur Central.
I checked the availability status on train no. 2942 (Asansol-Ahmedabad Super Fast Express) and found that 56 berths were available. Hence, I proceeded to make ticket. But after payment the e-ticket issued showed that Waitlisted tickets were issued with WL Nos. 58 & 59.
I once again checked the availability status and found that the system still showed 56 berths available. I called up the IRCTC help desk and informed them about the problem. They told me that the problem occurred as the system was not updated and asked me to send a mail to them informing them about the matter. subsequently a ticket no. 556255 was generated against my mail.
I kept on calling them daily and even mailed them regarding the issue. But no proper response was received from IRCTC. Then I cancelled the ticket on 05.08.2009 and demanded full refund of Rs. 647/-
But an amount of Rs. 592/- has been refunded today which is Rs. 55/- less than the full amount.
It may please be noted that since the system was not updated, such an error occurred. It is completely negligence on the part of IRCTC and hence the loss must be compensated on their end.
The matter may please be taken up with IRCTC for disposal of the issue.
