My Lenovo Y500 series is having a problem in CD DVD Rw, my notebook is is just 2 - years older. it is making so much of noise after inserting dvd or CD And also not reading CD, s just show blank on the drive. whats the problem i dont know Was this information helpful? | |

I am David Wagner M. Reyno a CPA from the Philippines and I have bought a Lenovo Y430.
My laptop is just 6 months in my possession yet my dvdrw is no longer working. I went back to the retailer that sold to me the unit. I was made to wait 2 months after which I got my dvdrw back. However, after a month, I experience the same problem again. I went back to the retailer again and they told me that I would most probably wait for about the same length of time! So if I am to avail of this slow warranty service again, that would be tantamount to waiting for 4 long months in total!
I never expected Lenovo service to be like this! For me it has affected the Lenovo image badly! My brother told me that because of this experience, if he is to buy a laptop it would no longer be Lenovo! So sad...
I would just like to ask what is the best course of action for me? Better yet, to Lenovo, what is the best course of action for your company?! This is affecting your well-loved image! I wish to receive a reponse...pls...thanks!

Clean with DVD lens Cleaner...
I Purchased a Lenovo Y 500 Series Laptop in October 2007 and I am also having the same problem.The DVD writer is not even reading the sony and other company blank DVDs.It is showing the free space as zero bytes and does not allow me to write anything using default wizard or using Power2Go Express..It is not reading any DVD /CD movies also..I can use only digit/Chip Cd's and windows vista cd using this ..
i haven't recieved any free gift as i ws told to give a home theater. my computer is of h200 series.

I have the same problem as I am seeing have piled up in this forum. I bought a lenovo 3000 Y410 laptop last year on 21st march. I started experiencing with it's DVD drive 3 months back. The laptop was under warranty period so the Lenovo service centre fixed it, but I started experiencing similar problems a month back. First it stopped reading userburned discs then it amounted to stop reading any discs but the recovery discs provided with the laptop. Now even they aren't being read by my drive. I therefore ask for urgent assistance in this matter. I must stress that I am duly disappointed by the lack of response to our queries by lenovo on such matters.
