[Resolved]  magic-bid.com — company having no contact informations tends to be a fraud

Address:Jalpaiguri, West Bengal

I registered myself with magicbids.com and today I purchased 600 worth auction ticket to bid the company on scrutiny found to be ingeunine the reason is they have not provided with with any contact phone number in theirwebsite nor even their address.They also claim to be verisign certified company and according to message posted by them it is not only 90 dollars fees there are several other procedures to obtain a verisign certificate.I know any company who is to be verisign certified has to clearly mention their address.Now the bidding procedure it is also very triky because they kept 1 rupee gap for each and every biddin why not 50 rupees or 100 rupees?A product worth rupees 35000 is given a bidding gap of rupee 1 how feasible it for the bidder?then the bidders has to give up all their activity to perticipate in bd?I solicit companys clear cut opinion in this regard
sincerely yours,
Amitava Sanyal

i agree with you sanyal...

contact address shows that the company has a proper office setup with people working... in short if the company is genuine... it should display the address... though they may not display phone nos... as it might be a headache attending phone calls... many company therefore prefer to correspond on emails...

i don't know about magicbid, but recently i found this great site www.lootadda.com
they have a superb referral plan in force where we get free bids for lifetime... i was doubtful initially, but i myself have received more than 50 free bids.

i am a fan of lootadda.. and i have won some excellent deals on lootadda...
i can't say about other websites... but i have tested lootadda many times... and i am writing on this laptop which i won on lootadda...

I was closely monitoring the Auction of Blackberry 9700 on magic bid and noted the names of all bidders with the frequency. then i monitored the website for the next 24 hrs. Seems that some people do not sleep at all and are awake @ all hours. During the course of this particular bid, i have noted 62 people and many of these constantly bid - either Magic Bid is using script or these people are so bloody rich that they dont care how much money they loose... Below are the results of 9 sleepless hours! happy hunting and being fooled! :(

This is fraud and I am saved in time..

Same observation by me. Even after the zero reaches, there is some flash "checking" and it starts all over again. looks obviously to be a script.

Just entered it, but now saved by not buying any bids..

Thanks..I am sorry for the loss of everyone here, but the good job is done by all to save others who visit here.
Dear Sir/ Madam,

Before 1 month I use to ply online auction game bid on www.magicbid.com. Where I (user) needs to
buy bid packages from magicbid.com and afterword able to play the auction. I bought bids about Rs.15 thousand. And also they have option of "buy product" it works like when auction ends I can use my used bids amount to purchase the product.

Issue:
On 25th of Oct. 2010 I have bid on HP Mini 210 -1100TU Atom N4502
and after end of auction I choose to Buy Now option to order the
laptop.
While completing the transaction for 18160.00 rupees due to some internet
disconnection I got an message that the transaction was not completed.
But when I check on my bank account the amount has deducted on same date.
And also when I checked on my account on magicbid.com for puchased products ...
it was empty so I confirmed that it was not completed and I filed complain in bank.

I thought it was banks mistake but when I check with bank customer care
they have confirmed on 16/11/2010 that the transaction was successful and
you have to check with merchant.

And I asked for refund of my money because still I have'nt got any laptop nor any
payment reciept.

On 16/11/2010 itself I placed a complain on magicbid.com with the help of Contact support ticket
no.900629 and mentioned all above fact. For which I got automated system generated email confirmation as following
"A request for support has been created and assigned ticket #900629. A representative will follow-up with you as soon as possible."

I waited till 8/12/2010 (almost 22 days) but still they have no response above that when I checked on magicbid.com
about ticket status, it says "invalid login"

Then I got that this site owner is fraud and now they won't respond to me. But still on 8/12/2010 I taken
another support ticket and mentioned below fact...

"Hi there,

As my earlier email dated on 16 nov 2010 (Support ticket no. 900629)
I was requested for refund of money and was explained about what happen.
But today after almost a month you have had not contacted me by any way.
And also to check my earlier ticket status I logged in on site but it says invalid login. Now tell me what the hell is going on?

I will wait another 2 days means till 11 Dec. 2010, for your reply on
my this mail and earlier mail (support ticket). And if you fail to communicate with me On 12th Dec. I will assume that you guys are fraud and you won't entertain me anymore. Hence I have no other option but file a complain in consumer court.

And also I will take part in online forums to reveal your fraud face with evidences.

Awaiting your quick response!

Regards
Ganesh Narwane"

But still they have no response.

To take this further I want to file a complain against magicbid.com and all its members regarding fruad and cheating.
also I want to inform all other members who use to play on magicbid.com that this site is not trustworthy and avoid
loose hard earn money.

Please help me in this regards and for to take this till the end.
magicbid is using minimum_price and current_limit to control the bids, read on to understand how magicbid is fooling people.
I personally have tried it and found how they function (purely my understanding)

Steps of findings:

1. I just logged in with 0 bid in one account and another one with few bids in it.

2. Right click the bid button and open it in new window (download and open as a text file) (Note: if you will have any bids in your account, it will decrement it while you do this)

3. You will see something like this, before the bid starts

"{"Auction":{"id":"13552", "start_time":"[protected]:35:41", "end_time":"[protected]:00:41", "rrp":"3750", "start_price":"1", "peak_only":"0", "closed":"0", "winner_id":"0", "status_id":"0", "minimum_price":"296", "current_limit":"0", "time_extended":"15", "message":"You have no more bids in your account", "element":"auction_13552"}}"

4. This is a detail of a particular auction with MRP 3750 Rs. Please have a look at field minimum_price. This auction is not going to end until this minimum_price/2 price is reached (apart from few exceptions)

5. Also keep a note on current_limit field. I guess it is related to their own users internal bidding to increment the bid price (i.e. start_price field).

6. As the bidding proceeds, this file will change to

"{"Auction":{"id":"13552", "start_time":"[protected]:35:41", "end_time":"[protected]:07:29", "rrp":"3750", "start_price":"49", "peak_only":"0", "closed":"0", "winner_id":"0", "status_id":"0", "minimum_price":"344", "current_limit":"48", "time_extended":"15", "message":"You have no more bids in your account", "element":"auction_13552"}}"

7. I assume from these numbers, there are no actual bidders, as current_limit price = (start_price - 1)

8. Now if there are no bid at (minimum_price - current_limit)/2 price, the auction ends with their internal user.

9. If you bid at the above mentioned price (for this example Rs.148), their internal users will keep on incrementing the bid and might as well change minimum_price, current_limit price.

{"Auction":{"id":"13552", "start_time":"[protected]:35:41", "end_time":"[protected]:21:45", "rrp":"3750", "start_price":"151", "peak_only":"0", "closed":"0", "winner_id":"0", "status_id":"0", "minimum_price":"445", "current_limit":"1", "time_extended":"15", "message":"You have no more bids in your account", "element":"auction_13552"}}

10. Now the next trigger price is Rs.222 (i.e.(445-1)/2). This difference of 74 Rs.[protected] will keep on decresing, if you again bid at Rs. 222. When there is no difference, still am not able to close the auction as their internal users keep on incresing the bid.

{"Auction":{"id":"13552", "start_time":"[protected]:35:41", "end_time":"[protected]:32:14", "rrp":"3750", "start_price":"225", "peak_only":"0", "closed":"0", "winner_id":"0", "status_id":"0", "minimum_price":"518", "current_limit":"0", "time_extended":"15", "message":"You have no more bids in your account", "element":"auction_13552"}}

{"Auction":{"id":"13552", "start_time":"[protected]:35:41", "end_time":"[protected]:38:48", "rrp":"3750", "start_price":"272", "peak_only":"0", "closed":"0", "winner_id":"0", "status_id":"0", "minimum_price":"564", "current_limit":"2", "time_extended":"15", "message":"You have no more bids in your account", "element":"auction_13552"}}

{"Auction":{"id":"13552", "start_time":"[protected]:35:41", "end_time":"[protected]:41:55", "rrp":"3750", "start_price":"293", "peak_only":"0", "closed":"0", "winner_id":"0", "status_id":"0", "minimum_price":"584", "current_limit":"1", "time_extended":"15", "message":"You have no more bids in your account", "element":"auction_13552"}}

{"Auction":{"id":"13552", "start_time":"[protected]:35:41", "end_time":"[protected]:43:31", "rrp":"3750", "start_price":"305", "peak_only":"0", "closed":"0", "winner_id":"0", "status_id":"0", "minimum_price":"595", "current_limit":"2", "time_extended":"15", "message":"You have no more bids in your account", "element":"auction_13552"}}
.

.
This was a live example, which I went through and thought of sharing with you. So you don't waste your hard earned money.
If you are lucky you will see this setup, else by now magicbid might have change this setup.
They are clearly using minimum_price and current_limit at their end to control the bids, that clearly is a cheating.

If you are a magicbid employee or a part of it then I would advise you to be ethical, don't cheat people by taking their hard earned money (without them knowing) and stop playing around with their emotions by this lucrative game plan.
