Some law enforcing authority ... somebody in power please take action against Manas hosting... after seeing so many negative reviews about them around the net, how can they still be surviving... their service is so horrible and pathetic... their site is down most of the time, their lines are not active most of the time... it leaves ppl who have signed up with them helpless...

I think some governing body must take action and not let unsuspecting ppl (like me!) fall prey to them...

I spent Rs. 2000 on a windows package... i made an online transfer and after 4 days i got the account activated...
I received the instructions for setting up my helm account...( please keep in mind that i am a first time user and all this is very new to me!) i do have k/w about free websites and blogs... but setting up your own website is a different ball game altogether!

There is not customer service whatsoever... just read these instructions...
what can a first time user understand about these! esp if things are not working?

I shall just paste what instructions i got in the email... if someone can help me out it will be great!

here it goes! ( check out the english)

۞ Please click on My Domain, your domain name will come in the list, please click on your Domain name. (If your domain is not showing there then please add the domain by clicking the create domain bottom and out your domain name with our www then click on save after you can able to view the domain name there).

۞ In the next page you will get so many settings out of them you will get a icon Email please click there. [ I get only 4 icons ... no so many settings :( ]

۞ In the next page you will get 1 buttom for add, click there then in the next page you will get a squarebox@your domain name.

۞ In the you have to type info or admin or kumar or rahim what ever suitable for you then you have to put your password and confirm password. (please don't laugh!)

۞ Now your ftp login will be info@domainname or admin@domainname or ram@yourdomain or rahim@yourdomain what ever you have given in that box that name@yourdomainname will be your User ID of your ftp and the password which you have given that will be your password.
(oh ram... oh rahim... help me!!! )

۞ For login you have to type in the browser ftp.yourdomainname then it will ask you User ID and password then you have to put your User ID and password.

۞ How to upload by the using the ftp detail, you will get the long description below.

After login into your Control Panel

Please find below procedure to upload your files:

Please make your home page as index.htm and upload your all file under wwwroot folder. Please don't upload outside of wwwroot folder. Otherwise it will not work.

1) ftp.--------------- ( ftp.abc.com )

User ID : info@
Password : you have to create after log in to your account


Now you can see two folder :
I) logs
II) wwwroot

and you can upload your file from your computer to your webspace server under wwwroot folder.

2) Through ftp software also you can also upload file..

Please download this software from below URL www.manashosting.com/ftp.exe

And install it in your computer, click as a student and for home use option at the time of installing the software.

It will ask you folllowing details and you have to fill up the box to upload your website...

profile name : website
host name/address : ftp.--------------- ( ftp.abc.com )
host type : automatic detect
User ID : info@domainname
password : you have to create after log in to your account
click box : Save Password
press apply two time
press ok one time

Now you will see ftp room to host your website...
Left hand side box will be the list of your local computer file...
Right hand side box is your web server file list...
Now click middle arrow mark button to transfer file from Your computer to web server.
Upload your all file inside wwwroot folder.
Note:- On this ftp software click options -->session --> uncheck "use passive transfer mode"

I don't know which ftp software that is! I want to know if i can use File Zilla for this??? if so how? can some one let me know how they set up their website or hosted it using Manas hositng... i will be highly grateful... Please help!
