[Resolved] Sheikh Jamil Ahmad — Breakage of Wine Bottle
1. I travelled from Hyderabad to Coimbatore on 15 Jan 2011 by Air India flight IC 1547 boarding pass no[protected]C1. 2. While checking in the luggage at the counter I told the person that my bag contained wine four bottles & he should put the FRAGILE tag on the bag. The same was done and a baggage tag bearing No - [protected], A/7119587/ SEQ NO 44 was put on it. 3. After about an hour or so an announcement was made that I should report to the departure gate, I did so & on reaching there I was told that I had to go to the Luggage section as there was some problem. 4. From there they took me to the Luggage section where I was informed that there was a leakage in my bag, on opening my bag I found that a bottle of wine had broken out of the four bottles and the entire stuff like T- Shirts, Shoes, Shirts Jeans, Hanker chefs etc were stained in the bag & the bag was full of small pieces of glass. 5. I cleaned my bag & asked the staff, that how could it happen when a FRAGILE tag put on the baggage... but they did'nt have any answer to my query. On asking as to where I could lodge a complaint I was told that I could'nt lodge a complaint at Hyderabad & I should do it at Coimbatore airport. They started to avoid me on asking the reason of breakage, I asked a manager type of person to the problem & he told me that someone will come & inform me in the aircraft about the problem & I should board the aircraft immediately as it was about to depart. 6. NO one came in the air craft to inform me. On reaching Coimbatore I spoke with the staff about lodging a complaint, they told me that there was no use as there would be no action on it, as the airlines was not responsible for the breakage of bottles with or without FRAGILE tags. 7. On reaching home I lodged a complaint in the Air India's inter net site of which there has been no response till date. 8. I am very disappointed with the behaviour of the staff at both Hyderabad & Coimbatore airports. I want the compensation for the breakage and the subsequent damage to the stuff in the bag due to leakage caused by the wine. 9. Hoping for a positive response, my email address is [protected]@gmail.com and my contact No is [protected]. Was this information helpful?
