[Resolved]  Sony Ericsson / Mobile W580i — unimaginably poor servicing under warranty

Hello,
I am using W580i, which was bought in December'07 developed some problem sometime in July'08( well within the warranty period). I had submitted the phone to the Sony Ericsson service center( Ghatkopar(w) Shreyas) on 22th July. I was informed that there is a problem in main board so it will take about 12-15 days, however i got the phone back after 1 month on 20th Aug. Sadly when i rechecked and tried to switch the phone on, it refused to start. I went to same service center again on 26th Aug and inquired about the same.I was then informed that there is a problem with the LCD (display) and it would take a further 12-15 days. I tried to find out about why the issue was not resolved at that point but i failed to get an answer. So i had to submit the cell again. I called to service center after 15 days but they said there is a parts shortage in market for this model so it will take some time.I have called the Sony Ericsson customer care and emailed them about the same problem but i failed to get any further information other than being asked to wait. Again the delivery of the phone was decided 1month later, on 20th Sep. But now, the slider of phone was not opening properly.I was asked by the say Service centre to keep the phone and that they would talk to the company about a hinge assembly and get it arranged within 3-4 days. However the problems did not end there.When i switched the phone on it had developed a new problem.I found that it was showing no network coverage. It was not a Network issue at my place since i could get network on a different phone.I spoke to the same service center again and was asked to resubmit the phone.On the scheduled day of collection, 26th Sep, i was informed that there is again a problem in hinge assembly and main board. On further questioning them i did not get a straight answer. They told me that submit the phone once more. Now we will send this request on high priority and you will get your cell in 5 days but i am still awaiting for my cell.

Each time i try to talk to the Service centre, they direct me to the Customer care and the customer care send me back to the service centre.

The problem is not with my phone alone. Another friend with a w580i has faced the exact same problem and his phone had been into repairing for around 6 months.

I have been patient enough. I do not know what to do.When i asked if i could get a replacement, i was brushed off saying there is no such thing as a replacement as it could be done only after the first month of purchase.

I don't know how else to make my grievance known except to mail you as you would be my last hope.

Could you kindly look into the matter?
