[Resolved] Soumens Workout — Cheating | |||
We had enrolled for a three month work out program with this 'Soumens Workout' in their Ranchi Centre in May 2010(end) by paying a sum of INR 10,000 for three months for two o[censored]s. We attended hardly three to four sessions for about seven days and to our surprise one fine morning the Soumen's centre was shut. After enquiring around for quite some time we discovered that they had shut their Ranchi Centre. Without even informing their customers, they just randomly take our money and shut! SInce June 2010 till present (January 2011) we have been repeatedly calling them to get our money back. We have been repeatedly calling their Kolkata Office in the following numbers- [protected], [protected],[protected],[protected]. Evey time we call we get a false assurance or a request to call later. We are sick and tired of their inaction and false assurances and we are contemplating moving a court of law against these frauds. We spoke to the follwoing representatives of theirs: Mr. Saha, Mr. Arindham, Ms. Payal. We also mailed them several times at [protected]@gmail.com but no repsonse. Finally, they have promised to refund INR 7000 by this saturday(15.01.11) of which we are not very hopeful given their past conduct.In any case even if we get our refund we are lsong INR 3000 for no fault of ours and leave apart thousand rupees or so we spent in repeatedly calling them for last eight months. I had enrolled for a six months package at Soumen's Workout with Rs. 7200/- and attended for around a month. Recently I have been transferred to Ranchi (I am in Govt. of India Service). I wanted to transfer my membership Kolkata to Ranchi but I was informed that their Ranchi Centre has been shut down. I requested for refund of at least fifty percent of the amount which they straight away refused. I consider that it is simply cheating since they have consumed my money providing service and the same is against any standard of professional ethics.
I live in kolkata, and I am thinking to join soumensworkout.did they really cheats peoples? plz rply.

You are right Vaibhav. Here is something similar that happened with me :
I had registered for a 6 months course at Soumen's Workout at Kaikhali Centre with Rs. 9500/- which I paid FULL in ADVANCE. After 3 months of my class at the centre, at the beginning of July 2012 they closed down the centre mentioning that they would re-open at a new location in Kaikhali a month and half after, sometime around 15th August 2012.
When they did not reopen on the above mentioned date, I called them to ask as to when it would reopen? They said it would open after Puja, which would be October 2012. Since that would mean a big gap and me being a blood sugar + thyroid + high triglyceride patient could not afford to miss my daily exercise.
To this they asked me to transfer my classes to Dum Dum or Lake Town, which would be time consuming for me being a mother and a professional and since the Kaikhali Centre was just beside my home I had opted for this Fitness Centre and hence I was reluctant to do so.
After repeated calls to Soumen's Number [protected] and [protected], which were sometimes not even answered...and several SMSes sent to Soumen's Number for which no replies ever came...I was offered house-case till the centre re-opened in October 2012. The centre did not open in the scheduled time. Therefore my classes continued. I had to take some leaves due to my health condition as well as due to my professional grounds.
Now, in January 2014 when only 37 classes out of 66 classes (pending 3 months of my 6 months course when the Kaikhali Centre did shut down) they DISCONTINUED my classes mentioning that I had been given ENOUGH classes.
So I lost more than a month's class for no fault of mine. I was ready to go to the centre at Kaikhali, had it re-opened. But I believe they had shut it down permanently and which is why I could not attend class at the centre. They discontinued my classes when I still had 29 CLASSES DUE.
I also asked for a refund of 1 month fee which they clearly DENIED.
My suggestion to everyone who is thinking to join this centre would be a BIG "NO". Do not enroll in this FRAUD ORGANIZATION which takes away huge amount of money in advance and then shut down their centres. They have found this new way of CHEATING PEOPLE. Think twice and think wise before you invest your hard earned money in this CHEAT ORGANIZATION.

This is a horribly unprofessional organization. I had signed up for a 3 month house training course and paid the money (10, 500) upfront on the proprietar, Mr. Soumen's assurance that if classes don't suit me or if I want to discontinue, money would be refunded. I had categorically inquired about refund and was assured of the same. However, it has been close to 3 months now and I have got only 12-15 classes by 3 different trainers at times that suit them. And, on request to discontinue, they have now blatantly refused to return the money.
I had requested for classes from 7-8 am in the morning n I was promised that they would start immediately after the payment. But, first they found me a lady teacher, but, she didn't even come a day. They then requested me to take a male trainer who after committing and my calling in the mornings also didn't come. I requested to discontinue but, they then convinced me to take class at 4 pm for few days so that they could find a trainer. The trainer came for 4-5 days in 2 weeks coz he kept felling unwell n then finally he stopped coming. On calling n enquiring for 2-3 days, I was told he has been transferred n a new trainer will come. Nex few days, no news. I followed up again n then the new trainer started coming. However, class time at 11 am or 4 pm didn't suit me as I was working from home n hence, I requested for a morning trainer or refund. They took 15-20 days but, could not find me a trainer. Post which, I was out of town for 15 days. I was finally assigned a trainer on return. He was the same trainer who had been assigned in the beginning and had not come. I still agreed.. he came one day in a week n cancelled on 3 days in the morning right before the class. I have been requesting for a refund and said they can deduct a month's fees even though I had got hardly 12 classes. But, they have gone back on their word and refused to refund.
The trainers are completely unprofessional.. feel no responsibility to inform clients of absence. And the entire organization believes in making money basis false promises. They make house calls at the time of money collection n make tall claims..and once they take money from you, you are bound to them with no choice.
I would recommend that nobody pays them money in advance as after that they leave you with no choice.

Soumen is not only a cheat, he is a big fraud. He opened a shady looking place in Kasba, Kolkata. I was interested as it was a no machine workout zone. I paid a yearly fee of 14000 rupees on 28th January 2014. The class was open only for a month and was shut without any prior warning. I have been requesting my money back for the last six months. After several attempts they sent me a cheque for 12500 rupees after four months. Not only did the cheque bounce as their was inadequate funds, but I was charged a penalty by my bank for it. They have told me that they would pay me back in cash, but they never answer calls, nor keep any promises.
The entire team is very unprofessional. They have no responsibility towards their clients and are a complete cheat!!!

i had enrolled in soumens workout this year at elgin road branch in kolkata. i have had repeated problems with the trainer. i had complained to soumen das regarding this a couple of times. he has not given any response and even ignored my repeated messages and call at his phone [protected]. i have had enough. i dont intend to stay there after being harassed and abused. i asked for refund and they declined. i will not be their slave. mr soumen and his trainer are unprofessional.if i dont get a response then i will have to take legal help regarding this. they have been doing this before to others. they are crooks.
