[Resolved]  Southern Railway — Harassment,Unjustifiable fine and Inhuman behavior from Railway staff in Train No.6108 on (9/5/09)

On 9th may 2009 I was a passenger with my nine member family on Train no.6108, Chennai- egmore express from Mangalore to Shornur. Four children, three ladies, (one senior citizen-our mother) and two males, my brother and myself. We requested sleeper tickets to Alappuzha and Cherthala at the ticket counter of Mangalore railway station. But the counter staff denied and given ordinary tickets to us and advised to collect sleeper tickets from the TTE of the above train. He also advised us to board in S9 or S10 coach which has no reservation from there. Accordingly we boarded S9 coach and waited for TTE to come. But after sometime –while the train entered Kerala border-2 persons came and asked for tickets. We showed our tickets and requested for sleeper tickets .They said they are not TTe’s and are squad and asked us to pay a fine of Rs.3400 for traveling on sleeper coach. We once again appealed for sleeper tickets as per the advice of the counter staff. But they compelled us for fine, which then they reduced to Rs.1650.Since we are returning back after a pilgrim tour from Mookambika, we have no enough money and we begged for their mercy. Finally they given us a fine of Rs.600, and we paid (Excess fare ticket no.AA964438&AA9646380) with in that time we have received so much harassment from the squad before the fellow passengers. And also we had been expelled to General compartment.We, especially, our old mother and kids suffered so much due to the unexpected shifting. We are not eligible for the above situation. We were ready to take sleeper tickets from the beginning of our jorurney.The counter staff present on 6.13am, on 9.5.[protected]@Mangalore railway station, who denied sleeper tickets and the ‘not coming TTE’s posted for duty to‘S9&S10 coaches were the actual culprits. As a common man we do not know the full text of Indian Railway Rules. We are not ticket less passengers .WE collected our tickets at Mangalore station on 6.13am. Why did the counter staff denied to issue sleeper tickets? Why the TTE‘S doesn’t come to S9&S10 coaches? Due to the improper work or the misguiding advice of the railway staff we the nine passengers suffered so much. Our up journey was on Netravathi express which we have got reservation and berth only to oneside.But we never dreamed of this type of experience on our down journey. Due to the huge crowd in General coaches we didn’t got seats up to Shoranur Jn. From Shornur to Ernakulum we got ‘Venad Express’ and Ernakulum to Alappuzha we got the Passenger Train. Why did the counter staff denied to issue sleeper tickets? Why the TTE‘S doesn’t come to S9&S10 coaches? . I request the kind attention of The Railway authority concerned to take suitable action against the ticket counter staff at Mangalore station on 9th may 2009, 06.13am and the ‘not coming TTE’, who is being posted for duty on S9 coach of Train No.6108, departed at 6.40am from Mangalore Railway Station .I also request you to collect an amount, not less than Rs. 1000 - as the remuneration for the sufferings of nine passengers- from the above responsible staff. Expect a reply from the authorities as early as possible. True photo copies of excess fare tickets and journey tickets attached
