[Resolved] Southern Railways — Severe Noise Pollution | |||
We have an Apartment in V.M. Meadows, Horamavu, next to the railway line and at the Horamavu Railway Crossing Junction. We have guests from Japan living in the corner apartment W106 facing the track. They also live in a similarly located home in Japan but do not face the terrible noise pollution that they face here. the noise is created not only by the speeding rattling train but more seriously by the train's hoot, especially while passing by the area. this is a densely populated residential area with many blood pressure and heart patients, the Railway authorities must contain the noise pollution to the minimum. Noise pollution from trains is really high in the city. Train drivers seem to adopt a highly defensive policy and use the really loud horns from a good distance before a railway crossing and well after crossing it as well. It should be a trivial matter to implement a trip-switch on the tracks that sets off a hooter at the level crossing, rather than having the train horn alarm everyone in a radius of a kilometre or more.
