[Resolved] Standard Chartered Bank — Blacklisting for default of Payment | |
Dear Madam/Sir, I learnt recently from some known sources when applying for credit card of another bank that my name has been blacklisted in banks list of payment defaulters. To my knowledge there wasn’t any conflict with any banks where I maintain accounts since 1995 (Indian Bank, ICICI bank and Citibank) other than SCB. There were two conflicting instances with SCB. First one was sorted out while the later was clarified from my end but SCB failed to take corrective action. Following is the description of facts. I was a credit card customer of SCB during 2003-05. Initially I received credit card with a DD for Rs.30000 part of revolving facility which I had never requested for. Later on the issue was sorted out following which another fresh card was issued. I had used the earlier card and later on started using the new card where for both cards the payments towards the statement bills was made via my ICICI savings account. I have record of only one number presently [protected] and have no idea if this is old or new card number. The last transaction I had made with the new card was at a petrol station in Chennai for filling petrol for Rs.500 where the statement was sent after waiving surcharge. When the statement was sent I made payment online towards the old card issued earlier which was registered in my savings account since both cards had same customer reference. By mistake I had even made two payments for one bill. Refer the enclosed images for details. The following month the statement was sent with interest charges for over due payment where I had contacted your customer service department and clarified the payment details. The executive promised to make the correction and confirmed that charges would be reversed in the next statement which never happened. I kept calling month after month where the interest charges kept increasing and there was no corrective action from SCB. Realizing that there was no action I discontinued using SCB card and was waiting for someone to call from SCB for default of payment and I could clarify my point on payments made in time. My contact mobile number has not changed since 2002; hence tracing me was not a difficult task. Till today there were no calls from SCB for clarification of pending payments. Instead of correcting the mistake SCB has simply black listed my name leaving me in despair. Realizing this late I request you to review the past records and do the corrective measures and unregister my name from blacklisted defaulters list. Hope SCB will do the needful.
