[Resolved]  State Bank of India — Dues

Address:Mumbai City, Maharashtra

As usual you have failed in giving prompt response despite of receiving payment of Rs.2334/- and credit to your account 10 days back. Over & above that, statement of July is hurriedly generated for Rs.16000/- plus without reversal of charges. To add to insult, your executives of HO (Gurgaon) have started insisting for more payments by calling regularly. It is shocking to note that they do not know the basis for receiving payment of Rs.2334/- (Yesterday Mr. Javed from SBI Card, Gurgaon wanted to know why the payment of Rs.2334/- has been made) and they say that they do not have hint of any communication (read trailing mails) being exchanged. I really doubt affairs of SBI Card Organisation which is worth for investigation by Dept of Revenue & Banking, Ministry of Finance.

Further to which, my account is already debited last week for Rs.2334/- soon on dropping of cheque contradicting your claim that it will take 4 days for credit. Despite of your assurance, communication is still awaited from your end.

I have received a SMS confirmation for receipt of cheque.

Secondly, I have been getting calls from mumbai office to pay more money despite of our agreed talk followed by your emails. I really doubt integrity/honesty in SBI card executives' words. I feel rather getting extorted by SBI Card people for their personal gain.

I would be obliged if you have a centralised communication system and one point of coordination.

Dear Mr. Pai,
This is with reference to your communication dated June 14, 2010 regarding your SBI card account.
At the outset we regret while you felt that your issues were not adequately and promptly responded in the past.
We truly value you as our privileged customer and regret the inconvenience cause to you in the matter address to us. Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused to you and for your displeasure whilst you felt our service levels did not meet your expectations.
We would like to share with you that at the time of booking the encash facility on the SBI Card account, it is requested to pay the “Total Amount Due” mentioned at the right corner of the SBI Card Monthly Statement, comprises of EMI (i.e. Monthly installment of encash Plan Booked on Account) + the remaining balance on all the other Plan segments on Account (i.e. Retail /Cash unpaid Outstanding balance).
Furthermore, regarding the payment towards outstanding balance we would request you to pay as per the Total Amount Due on the statement, whereas the Total Amount mentioned under Account Summary is the total outstanding on your card account, which includes the amount booked on encash as well. We would request you to please make payment as per total amount due or minimum amount due whichever is higher.
Please note that SBI cardholders are advised to pay the total outstanding as per the monthly statement of card to avoid any charges or have the option to pay at least the minimum amount due to avoid late payment charges
The finance charges are levied at up to 3.1% (effective October 01, 2008 3.35%) per month up to 37.2% per annum (effective October 01, 2008 40.2%), charged on a daily balance basis. (Balance includes opening balance and fresh purchases). This process continues till the complete outstanding on your card account is completely cleared
We wish to inform that that under the below mentioned condition late fee is levied on the card:
In case payment not received till payment due date.
In case payment received less than minimum amount due.
We would like to share that against the total amount due balance of Rs. 22822.02 billed in your statement dated April 02, 2010, we have received a payment of Rs. 1950.00 so, finance charges were levied on the account.
We would also like to share that against the total amount due balance of Rs. 21574.67 billed in your statement dated May 02, 2010, we have received a payment of Rs. 1950.00 so, finance charges were levied on the account. Please refer schedule of charge mentioned on the rear side of month statement or your can access the same at below-mentioned web link:
http://www.sbicard.com/sbi/FnCSBI-Gold-and-More-Card-fees-and-charges.jsp
Scrutiny of the card account details reveals that due dates for repayment were missed on several instances and there are partial payments on the card account. As incremental charges were unilaterally deducted by you, further charges were accrued on the card account and follow ups were initiated to assist in timely payments.
Hence, we are unable to reverse any charges levied on your card account. As on date, your SBI card account is inactive for usage and has an outstanding of Rs. 18,585.09 payable towards same.
We would also like to share that you would continue to receive the statements on your account till the outstanding is nil.
Please feel free to contact us should you require any further assistance or clarification.
We assure you the best services at all time.
In case of any further clarification, we request you to reply at head.[protected]@ge.com using the same subject line.
Yours sincerely,
AVP- Customer Service
Dear sir,

It is nice to see your reply after very long. But I would like to put forward my comments as below :

1) My EMI for the month of June is dropped in the first week of this month itself.

2) I would definitely make additional payment of Rs.2334/- subject to receipt of proper bifurcation of the same. No doubt, it will be paid no sooner did the receipt of required bifurcation.

3) It appears Rs.2334/- include charges on account of two late payments. But as informed to Ms. Rajlaxmi, I had to go out of town to attend sick relative which is worth condoning. Still if insisted, I would have no alternative but to pay.

4) Last but not the least, I need a clear line of confirmation from your end that as on date only 5 installments of Rs.1950/- and 1 installment of Rs.1836/- (i.e. balance) are pending to be paid by me. (pl. refer my mail of 3/3/2010 for reconciled data)

Looking forward for the quick response for early settlement.

Thanks
venkatesh pai

Despite of passing a month factual reply is still awaited. This is the third time where reply from your end kept on hold pending investigation. Did you prefer third investigation as earlier two failed to prove your contention of due amount. Or is that just to keep on hang, matter is getting dragged.
Hoping to close the matter soon based on reconcilliation sent to you based on your own statement.

Dear AVP
Can I know your name please ? It is disgusting to note that such statement of investigation thru dedicated source is being made for the third time. I really fail to understand why lot of energy is being wasted on this exercise when reconcilliation clearly indicates that amount carried forward in Sept 08 is incorrect. When it has been clearely told to pay the encash in EMIs, how come your people can claim that near about 20% is payable in first month (i.e. around Rs.9000 shown in Sept 08). They had no answer to given when asked to show this clause in encash sanctioned/granted letter. Dear AVP, Looking at the marginal amount involved, still I suggest better you accept the facts and contiune to get the balance EMIs (as per my earlier email) rather than indulging in same old stories and misguidance.
regards
venkatesh pai

It is really surprising to see your mail seeking time for investigation uncalled for (getting repeated third time). Which means either you are not sure of your own reconcillation of data or just a delaying tactic.
You should agree that in the absence of any transaction other than encash, amount due shown of Rs.9744 in Sept 08 is incorrect. How you can dispute your own instruction of said encash payable in EMIs of Rs.1950/-. Moreover your executive (over phone recently) justifies amount due of Rs.9744/- towards 25% of encash payable in first month which I feel a irresponsible statement in the absence of any written material.
I need your proper reply on this.

Dear Sir,
This has reference to call from your office followed by trailing mail. As informed to caller I would like to repeat that dual treatment to single transaction is not acceptable to me. In other words while sanctioning encash/verification of the same (through phone calls) as well as while releasing the cheque for encash amount, it was told to pay back in equal EMIs for predetermined period in writing by SBI. Then how come initial statement can show the due amount as Rs.9744.14 instead of EMI for that month when no other transaction has happened under this card ?. As informed to caller, demand for payment of financial charges or interest is irresponsible and beyond justification.
You will observe thru my mail dt. 3/3/2010 that agreed amount of EMIs have been paid on regular basis and amount payable as on 1 April 2010 stands Rs.17436/-. Again & Again I would like to stress that reversals have taken place neither at my instance nor linked to any default.
I don't agree with settlement proposal as predetermined period for pay back of encash is still to be over. Deactivation of card is entirely done at your descrition as I am not a party to it nor I have any interest in it.
regards
venkatesh pai
