[Resolved]  Tata Communications — False information and money collected via cheating

Hi All,

This mail was marked to many departments of TATA because of the pathetic customer grievance cell and there is no response since past few days. I have also escalated this issue to Mr. Anil Kumar Sardana (Managing Director - Tata Teleservices Ltd)

I have a Tata Internet connection and i have been facing an issue since February 2012. If somebody from Tata had taken some keen interest in solving it earlier this issue should had not gone out of hands. I am sorry to say I have been CHEATED and LIED twice from Tata representatives.

Since 2 years i have a Tata DSL DS 212 B3G1F-399 plan and been paying on time. I had made my last payment in December 2011 of Rs 1320 for four months, its an advance rental plan wherein I could use my internet connection till 26th February 2012. I got a call from the rep in Jan 2012 that you could change your plan to DS413-ADSL-512kbps-599 with just Rs 100 more cost to your original plan wherein you can pay for three months and get one month free. I said YES because there was only Rs 100 more to my existing plan. In Feb 2012 i received a bill of Rs 2900 for which i realized that the plan was for only three months and one month free was not a part of it.

So therefore during first week of Feb 2012 i called up and emailed concerned departments to change the new plan to my old plan and to NULLIFY the new bill and to send me a bill for my old plan. ALL THIS WHILE MY OLD PLAN WAS GOING ON TILL 26TH FEB. So i said just give me the bill of my old plan wherein i could make future payment of my existing plan.

But to my surprise NO ONE from Tata could solve such a simple issue. They could have just given me a new bill of my old plan and I could have continued after 26th Feb as normal. All Feb and March i was trying to solve this issue and my Father had to visit Tata gallery also to just make them explain the issue. Nobody could take the onus and solve this issue and at the end in second week of March i had to mail to discontinue my connection so that I am not penalized for using the internet more than 26th Feb.

On March 12 the internet was disconnected and I had lost hopes of solving the issue. For one month i had received a couple of calls from recovery agent to clear the outstanding amount but i clearly mentioned them that the bill was an advance rental bill for which i will not pay because I have not used it. So to make it simple and clear just because of pathetic customer care at TATA i had to cancel my connection.

To top it up on 10th April 2012 i received a call from Maker company rep which is an outsourcing agent for TATA that if I pay Rs 1320 then they will start my old connection plan. THIS AMOUNT IS WHAT I USED TO PAY FOR MY ORIGINAL PLAN. The representative told me that we will start again your connection if you make the payment and then you can use your old plan. The rep also told that the minimum speed at TATA has increased from 128kbps to 512kbps so with your new plan you will get 512kbps speed. After a lot of assurance from the rep i agreed to it informed to make the payment. The rep told me that if I could pay today itself then only the connection can be started. I made the payment by cheque on 10th April itself to one of the collection guys who was sent to my house. The rep informed me that the connection will start in a day and she guarantees that there would be no issue.

To my surprise the internet is not started till date and when i call the TATA customer care i get an answer that you need to make the balance payment of your previous bill and that the collection people LIED to YOU about starting your old plan.

I am furious now that twice have been CHEATED by TATA on such a small issue.

For this issue my father who is a senior citizen had to visit the TATA gallery twice and so many times he has called up to complain and check the status. My father had to go bear all the mental strss just to solve this issue. I am really really angry on the way this issue was handled. I just don't know why cant anyone from TATA take the onus of solving this issue and to make sure that these things does not happen with other customer too.

This issue was mailed earlier to the NODAL office but had no response from them too, just cant understand why do you have departments and mention on bill for issues mail to this address and still does not have the courtesy to to reply to your emails. Please stop fooling people and wasting their time in raising complaints at various departments. I have all the proofs of on what date i have mailed to what departments and also in your records you would have all my calling details.

If this issue is not solved by 18th April I will take up this issue to Public Grievances Cell of DOT and National Consumer Helpline.
