Tata Sky — poor service

i purchased a tata sky set top box on 18 feb 11..the assurance given by the dealer M/s Sree agencies (mobile no. [protected]) was that by 1100 hrs on 19 feb 11 the engineer would come and install the connection. Its been 72 hrs since then nobody from the company has contacted me or come for installation..on questioning the dealer he refuses to help saying now its my problem to get after the customer care of tata sky..I have made numerous calls to tata sky customer care but there has been response from their side..indeed very pathetic and discourteous service from tata sky..I would very strongly urge everyone not to subscribe for tata sky..I want a refund of my money and i want the tata sky to explain in writing for this delay in installation. Further i want action taken against the dealer for misleading customers...

I have a Tata Sky HD connection for more than a year. For the past two weeks, the tatasky Digicom box has been faulty . They had sent a technician on visit who just took out the wire connections and set them back saying that there were dust particles. This visit Costs Rs 125.The problem still continues and the customer care executives just do not care-nor hep me fix this problem . My complaint was escalated and the senior executive offer me a (repaired- pre used)digicom box.
They do not employ the right talents. The customer car/Senior executives just do not bother about losing customers. All they want is more focus on sales.
I am a subscriber since the last 2 years. The interface and the picture quality are good. But channel count right from the start is low. More so for Malayalam channels. When compared with any of the other 5 other DTH operators they are more costly and channels offered are also lower in number. The make my pack is also a big gimmick. When required channels are selected the subscriber ends up paying more that a bigger pack. Another major grouse is that if one does not want any channel, they would naturally get blank screens with promotional messages, this screen cannot be skipped. This can be easily done by the DTH operator if they want but they want to sell all channels by constantly reminding the customer that they have not subscribed to those channels. Tata sky is working on MPEG2 technology because of which they are severely limited to provide any new channels on limited bandwidth. Newer DTH operators (four) are offering MPEG4 based set top boxes and MPEG4 service by which they can provide more channels with the same bandwidth. TATA Sky has perhaps realised this and the new boxes are MPEG4 compatible but their service is only MPEG2 compatible as of now. Older boxes in Silver colour were only MPEG2 compatible but newer Black colored set top box are MPEG2 + MPEG4 compatible. With the poor service provided they should at least stop fleecing the customer, instead charge us premium charges for their poor service. Maybe we have to pay for the Superstar advertisement appearing fee also ! (for their TV advert through our monthly subscription) I would seriously recommend all to stay away from this lousy service and make their life Jigalala.

[protected].Then Service Provider Call Me And Said Come Out I Can't Come At Your Home.I said Him I Will Submit Complaint Against You ,Then He Said Do Any Thing You Want.If You Want To Chang Your Set Up Box Come And Chang It.
Who Will Paid Me One Day Tata Sky Payment And My Calling Charge For Tata Sky Customer Care.Please Help Me And Do Right Action For This.

Tata Sky Services over telephone are very very poor, to say the least. It takes hours to talk to the customer services. Too many pre-recorded messeges

As an annual mega pack holder of TATA SKY, I faced a lot of frustration in last 2 months. My advice is not to purchase annual mega pack. Bcoz, they do not have any policy to refund your balance money weather you are satisfied with the service or not. You would be bound to use TATA SKY until your money get utilized. In maximum case they close complaints without attending them. I spent almost Rs.500/- in mobile for registering complaints & talking to their service boys in last 2 months. Mental harassment it extra. I am fed up with their false promises & poor service. I am not able watch HD channels properly after paying for a whole year in advance. Set top requires 3-4 times ON/OFF to start. Also, it boots from start whenever I select HD channel, in most cases. But their service boys do not find any problem in it. They don't even bother to listen about the problems.
So, beware of TATA SKY & think twice before recharge.

I have been a TATA SKY user from 2007 at different places (Kasauli, Gwalior, Jammu and now, Kottayam). The dish here was installed at the highest point of a 10 storied building (I was told, wrongly, by the technician installing the dish in 2012 that lightening was not an issue). On 29 April, during a thunder shower, my TV, Home Theater and Tata Sky set top box all got damaged. I have replaced the TV at a cost of Rs 35, 000/- and the Home Theater is awaiting repairs. Tata Sky is supposed to replace my set top box as per the package I have subscribed to and it has been 16 days now. I have contacted their help line telephonically and via web chat to be promised immediate action (by Tuesday, by 1030 on Wednesday), but they just don't seem to have equipment on ground. Wonder if I should look for another dish based YV service. Thank goodness for competition!
The tatasky technician replaced the set top box at 1300 hours today, but I as of now at 1800 hours I do not have a signal. On contacting tataskt webchat the conversation I had with them is reproduced below:
