[Resolved]  Tata Sky — MALPRACTICES AT CROMA (JUHU) OUTLET

( I would request the top managerial staff of all Chroma outlets to read this )

I Mrs Mary Varghese , a practising Chartered Accountant by profession , residing at 7 Bungalows, Andheri (W) , had on 23/07/2011 bought a HD (Recording) Tata Sky connection from your Chroma (Juhu) outlet. I paid Rs. 3,999/- at your cash counter. Inv. No. - SLF02A[protected] . A representative who gave his name as Mr. Pratik (I do know if his name is the same or something else ) (mobile no – [protected]) attended to me who gave me a voucher which was in a sealed envelope. He opened it , scratched the card and noted down the number in his diary. He also put my subscriber ID on the card , that is my Tata Sky ordinary connection number that I have . He emphatically told me the new HD (recording) connection will take place before 24 hours. He also very emphatically told me that I need not contact Tata sky and he will be doing everything necessary.

After 3days (72 hours) when I called him in the morning he told me that someone from Tata sky will be coming to your place around 4.00 p.m. on 26/07/2011. Accordingly I took a half day from office and went home . Even after 6.00 p.m. when nobody turned up I tried calling him . When I called him the first time his mobile rang , the next time I called I got the message that his cell is not reachable and I should try later. I tried many times later upto about 8.00 p.m. As anyone would assume I assumed probably his mobile is out of charge or out of range.

On the 27th to 28th of July I must have tried his number I do not know how many times. Always one thing came to my attention was when I tried my number it used to ring the first time and subsequently all the messaages like out of range , switched off etc. Even at this stage I did not doubt any fraud/ mischief .

On the 29th morning at about 10.00 p.m. I tried his number this time from a different cell . A lady picked up the phone and asked me who I was . Again I very honestly told her all the details of my Tata sky new connection . She told me he has gone to the bazaar and will be back by 11.30 a.m. Once he is back she assured me that he will give me a call. I do not know whether he came back or whether he did go to the bazaar in the first place as I did not receive any call till 1.00 p.m.

After this I contacted Tata sky directly . I told her all about the connection (name – Maria) . She went through my ID and told me there was a booking for TataSky against my number on the 23/07/2011 , but this order was subsequently cancelled . She said she would not be knowing the reason for this. In spite of this she sent a Tata Sky man to my residence who came home about 5.00p.m. in the evening . I showed the Tata Sky man (Mr. Alam cell no [protected]) the voucher . He had brought the HD box. He connected the same and then when he tried to give me the connection he said that this voucher has already been connected to somebody else and he cannot give me the connection . Mr. Alam from my residence itself spoke to Mr. Pratik and warned him that he will complain to higher authorities. Mr. Alam took the used voucher and a copy of my bill. He told me that he will go to Chroma and get a new voucher. On Saturday I again tried calling Mr. Pratik for a long time because I wanted to tell him to give the new voucher to Mr. Alam. He did not bother to pick my phone as by now both my numbers were known to him.

I them sent him a SMS that if he does not call me back in half an hour I will be forced to lodge a police complaint. Finally I managed to speak to him not after 168 hours. I told him not to mess with me and I will not allow anyone to get away by cheating me . I was astonished when he told me he did not work at Chroma was was called by Chroma just for a day due to shortage of staff. He refused to give me any further details. Mr. Alam reached Chroma and he too got the same answer. Nobody there knew Mr. Pratik . They also said that he had come just for a day due to shortage of staff. Mr. Alam said that he was not in a position to get a new voucher and that he cannot do anything further.

I being a practising C.A. , busy with filing of returns (last date 31st July) could find time only on 31st July Sunday evening to visit Chroma . I went and spoke to the person at the Customer Care Centre – Mr. Dhruv. He very patiently heard me and assured me that he will see to it that the connection happens. Accordingly he told me he will hand over the new Tata Sky voucher to Mr. Alam as the already connected Tata Sky voucher was with Alam .Yesterday i.e. on 01/108/2011 when Alam visited Chroma again he was told that all the vouchers at their outlet has been tampered with and he will be getting a new voucher from the godown tomorrow i.e. today (02/08/2011) . I do not know the continuation of this saga which started on 23/08/2011..................

Today I have lost my trust in Chroma because I do not know how many staff out there are for 1 day. I would request Chroma to check the creditability of their staff before they bring them even for a day. I do not know for now if when I pay at Chroma whether I will get the delivery of my purchase, without going through a lot of hazzles. Mine was a very small transaction. I do not think I have the confidence to pay at Chroma and wait for delivery of bigger items.

Anyway I have lost a lot of my precious time just on a small purchase of Rs. 4,000/- . I would request you once again to check on your system before many more are duped of time and money. I would request every person buying from Chroma to take care and to not relay on the name Chroma a Tata Enterprise which I believed and trusted blindly.
