I had been using TATA sky for the past four years or so. I was always not happy with the service they provided, but as I had already spent a lot of money to buy the Set top boxes (though, at that time I could have opted for a local cable operator also, without buying a set top box), I continued with TATASKY even though there was considerable problem with their attitude and service of the so called Technicians.
Now, they have resorted to unfair trade practices and deducting unfair amount of money from my account.
The list is endless against the harassment done by the Tata sky team. I recently got problems in my TV and most of the times; the set top box was not receiving any signals. I called the customer care center and the highly qualified technician visited my place, though not on the decided upon time and also didn’t follow the Company’s policy of calling a subscriber before visiting the place. Even then, I let him enter the home as I had no choice. The highly qualified technician did only Hit and trial and switched off the TV once or twice and also changed the cables of the TV (which I had done almost 10 times, 1st myself on my own, then I was forcefully asked by the customer care executive to do it at my home before she could lodge my complaint, and again the Highly qualified technician did the same thing, but now he was charging for this highly sophisticated work and for his time!). Now, he said the cable was loose or something and he has tightened it and went away without even paying any heed to my advice that this is a temporary solution and I have done it earlier myself and I was charged 125 bucks for it. Again the problem resurfaced and I had to again lodge a complaint and go through the same ordeal again and this time he bluntly said that there is a problem with the set top box and I asked him to repair it but he said this can’t be repaired and then he changed the set top box, to my surprise, an old one. Within an hour or so, again the set top developed problems as he had not reset the set top box with my subscriber id and so the connection was disconnected. This time again I had to call the customer care and go through the same ordeal and now finally he changed the set top box with a new one, on 11th July or near to it.
Now, since 20th October, some channels were not being displayed even though I had paid for it and on 25th October I again had to lodge a complaint and the customer care person “Sonu” ( she goes by the first name only. Even my repeated attempts to ascertain her real name went in vain. The call was made at 8pm from [protected] on the number -[protected]. Then I asked to let me speak to a senior and she refused at first but finally hesitantly transferred my call to “ Naveen Kumar”. I am quoting the call details so that you actually listen to the adamant attitude of the customer care people over there. They were only concerned with ending the call and were constantly repeating the words that the visit of the service engineer will be chargeable at Rs.125 and not at all bothered at listening to my woes!). After that they told me that the warranty of the set top box is only 3 months and I have to pay again for the set top box, if there is any need to replace it.
I want to know from where you buy these faulty, poor quality set top boxes where you get only 3 months warranty! And who gave you the authority on our behalf to install it and make us pay for it and also don’t let us buy it from the outside market when it is available for 800 bucks upfront with 1 year warranty. It’s clearly a case of cartel of all the DTH service providers and unfair trade practices.
Finally, they asked me about the time I want them to visit my place and I said I want them to visit as soon as possible and they said that they will visit my place between 10am-12 pm, next day. Now, early morning I received a call confirming whether the technician can visit my place today, and I said Yes. (Though, I couldn’t understand the purpose of this call!)
After an hour I got a message that the Highly Qualified technician will visit my place at 5.20pm. And even before I could reschedule my day, after another hour, I got a call from Highly Qualified technician that he’ll visit my place in ten mins. Now, he made me do all the stuff he asked, like giving him the stairs to climb up to the dish at my place and also assist him in checking and doing the Highly technical stuff. I am made to pay for the service and also wait for these illiterate technicians and mess with the impolite customer care executives and also assist these unqualified technicians while he goes about his job of checking the fault, though the fault is obvious with the set top box and he is not willing to listen. I want refund of all the money spent on the repairs and also security deposit given at the time of installation. Again, another part has been changed and I didn’t get any warranty card, no papers and no slip for the charges, didn’t get the part which has been changed ( though I paid for the new part) and again I had been told that the warranty for the above product is just 3 months!
I want one of the four options-
1. Refund me the amount deducted for the service and repair and payment for changing of the faulty set top box provided by you.
2. Extend the warranty of the product provided by you and if any problem occurs, you should be liable for the charges.
3. Allow me to buy the set top box and other parts being changed by you (as I will get at least 1 yr. warranty, if I buy it myself).
4. Refund me the entire amount and disconnect the services.
