Each and every day The Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation (India) Ltd or CESC is unable to provide electricity which is one of the most basic needs in todays world. Since the past 1 month seldom has a day been passed without power cuts or "load sheddings" in Calcutta. Getting continuous power supply for 24*7 has become a dream for Kolkata.Each and every day there are power cuts and when consumers calls up the help line number that is 1912 they are been given wrong information.
Today at 11:54 am power supply went off in my area(Pin-700006).When i called up 1912 they told me that it is an ordinary load shedding and the power will be restored within 1 hour(complaint no-0410703).When 1 hour passed and then also power supply was not restored I again called up the helpline and asked for the supervisor.Mr Bhajan Paul(Floor manager) took my call and informed me that during the load shedding a fault has happened so it will take longer for the power to be restored, which in any way is impossible as faults happen when power supply is on and not when it is off.Then I called up "Canal"(No-9831830732) the depot of my area as per them there was a High tension fault and power can not be restored before 8 hours and even the local police station is also having supply off.But as soon as I informed that power supply is on in the Police Station they disconnected the call and restored the power supply within 5 mins.
My grievance is if there are no real faults and no power deficits then why these meaningless Power cuts are happening.More over as per Cesc site each and every year their profit margins are in crores of rupees.So why cant they buy power from other Power grid corporations during peak hours and maintain the supply, rather than doing power cuts where the common people suffer the most.
The monopoly services provided by the goenka's- run and owned kolkata electric supply company CESC is equally rotten as the state government functionng which has given them the free hand to run the company as mismanaged as possible.It is perfect example of the danger of allowing private sector to run monopoly companies supplying essential services.The Goenka's in their greed increase the prices of the electricity even for filmsiest reasons while give a service to the kolkata metropolitican area in a shoddy way.We need competition in this segment too with discipline.The other solution is eviction of the goenka's from the management of CESC.

It is our reminder to you about the critical satiation in the light post no 155/23/0 and 155/24 in West Joyrampur Jala Road ( Satyajit Roy Sarani, Kolkata-60). Our previous complain docket no is a) LT/10/20090. b) 0224128 . After the complain your technician came and they told us that we will repair it next day, but few days gone nobody came, then we make a phone to your customer care, they told us they will not do any thing until the power cut. This shows us that your business is more important than our life.

As my complain dt 12 sept2009 no Lt/55/21045 regarding fault of line due to over load in single phase during in the summer its a regular problem facing by us since last 3 years.Yesterday at night fault is occur due to whole night, we suffer without electricity and also the final examination of our children is going on. The complain no is 065254 & 065260 and we suffer at night from 11.3 pm to 6.3 pm

I want to inform you that, I have deposited Rs4830/=, at your South-Western Office at TARATALA, to modify my existing connection(Consumer no-11083154002) to run, 1.5 ton AC, vide RRno-2203328092, on 23/6/09.
However, after waiting for 6 months, no modification was donein existing line.

I have received bill for Feb.2011 is Rs. 1120/- & the total amount consumed shows as 287. My average consumption amounts to Rs.200/- month. Sir, it is highly unlikely that we could have consumed so much electricity as we have no air conditioner or any other high consuming electrical equipments. We are a family of three & in the past we have never consumed so much electricity.
I would be highly obliged if you look into the matter sympathetically & redress our problem at the earliest. Thaking you & waiting your co-operation.
