[Resolved] Universal Tyre House — New Tyre Burst | |
Hi I bought a new set of 4 tyres on 9th Oct for my Mahindra Scorpio along with rims from Universal Tyre at Kailash colony. I was given a bill and I took advise from the owner Harpreet on the tyre type, brand and the rims.I did showed ignorance here as I considered him an expert in this field and expected him to help me out with the best. Rs 42, 800 was charged for these. I had explained my driving pattern and the roads that I drive to.. For the next few days I did not drive the car as I was out of country and then I had to travel to HP for holiday .This I did on 24th of October. On 25th night one of the tyres burst (the side wall developed a huge crack) and thank God I was at very slow speed. My family was also traveling with me. I called the dealer and he assured me that he will get the tyre delivered in HP and finally after two days of continuous follow up he refused and suggested me to buy a new tyre. I called Yokohama India and they confirmed me to my shock the Universal is not a dealer of Yokohama and the tyres he has sold me are not fit for Indian conditions. Finally I reached back Delhi and I met the owner yesterday and asked him to give me a replacement and after an hour of discussions what he offered was a 30% discount. My grievances are 1.Cheating : The owner very much cheated me by giving me grey market tyres and also may be spurious or demounted tyres that are certainly not fit for Indian conditions.Also he did not make it clear that he is not a Yokohama dealer. 2.Life Endangerment: Just by selling these tyres he has put the life of my family and myself in danger as this burst could have occurred at any place and this could have resulted in an accident. 3.Brand name Spoling : By doing this he is spoiling the brand name of a reputed tyre manufacturer. 4.Loss to Exchequer: This guy must be importing these tyres at a very less value and by doing so creating a huge loss to the exchequer . I request you to please let me know the way out and also please send me some the specifications that must be followed to sell any tyre in India. Looking forward to your support. I have buyed new pair of Alloys & Tyres for my two cars one is for New Honda City and one i have buyed for my Audi Q7 i have searched every part of india for the tyres & alloys for the Audi and one of my freind recomed for Universal Tyre House i have visited them and they take 1 day time from me to show the options and more details on tyres & alloys and asked for 100% advance & delivery time 30days after finalising one lastest series of Alloys and tyres from them for approx Rs.120000 the same was costing me from the Auth. Dealer Rs.205000/- and same all the things which Universal Tyre House was providing me.
I have never meet a person like them who has taken the advance from me and 30days delivery time but made the delivery to us within 18 days and i have driven both the cars around 20000km and never face a problem and even i have recomemded my many friends to them and all of them are very satisfied from the buyer.
I know the Auth. tyre delaer says likes this to all the customer for the branding to buy the material from the dealer only but the service from them is very high costing, old series and poor.
I would recomend you to visit Mr Harpreet and he is the only person who will solve you problem.

Even I have been sold Grey market tyres but I believe that it's the customer who never asks for bill and warranty card. You might find him selling it cheap, but you never reason why. It is advisable to be active in such cases and do proper research before burning a hole in your pocket.
Check out groups like TeamBHP for the same.
Shirin, you're not an isolated case but I know those guys really well and I also know how to handle them. Whenever I visit his shop for alloys, I take the best discount but personally his selling tactics are like a next door salesman who knocks on everyone's door. And arrogance is synonymous with him, he believes he knows the best. A person who thinks he knows everything becomes arrogant and does anything to prove his point.
Be an aware consumer, such cases can be with every dealer, not necessarily Universal Tyre House. His alloys are good, conforming to Japanese standards but yes, there are some issues. No body can be a perfect dealer.

I was also got cheated by this guy Harpreet.As i used to get my wheel alighnment done from him for past 4-5yrs, so i thought of checking for the tyre rates and when i asked him that i want Turanza of Bridgestone, he gave me very good price and asked his guys to change the tyres and made us wait inside. After bout an hour of waiting I came to know that he doesen't have the tyre I asked and convince me to go for GIII oversizes tyre as it will have better grip. I trusted him and finally ended up bying ovesized grey makt tyre which was 2007 make(2yr old) and without a warnty card. He told me the no warranty card is required.
After 2-3 days while was going to my office the tyre got bursted and I also ended up with buying new small size tyres again from him by losing some 4k rupees.
Pl beware of this dealer

He is actually a cheater only. He just want to cut people pocket to any extent. He don't know how to do business and just do sales one time only. The owner is good in sales so convince people to buy alloys even for a brand new car and taking back the new and original tyre at throw away prices.
For other people who haven't bought anything from him, you guys are lucky enough so it's better to buy tyres from any stores other then universal tyre house.

He sold me gray market Michelin tyres and didnt give me the warranty reciept.
Also, the tyres that he gave are not comptaible with my car and it is dangerous to drive with them.
