University Teaching Hospital — University Teaching Hospital Barcelona "Fake Job Offer"

I had placed my CV on the monster jobs website. I was then contacted by the University Tecahing Hospital in Barcelona Spain informing me that they had liked what they'd seen and asked me to forward my latest CV to them by return email. I did as they asked, I then received an email asking me to fill in an interview questionnaire. Some days later I received an email from monster jobs informing me that they were not absolutely certain about the credentials of the company that were advertising the posts and they advised anyone who was in contact with this company to cease immediately, they also advised contacting local law enforcement to fid out how they would be covered in the event that they lost money. I decided not to send the Interview questionaire. A couple of days later I received an email from the University Teaching Hospital informing me that my qualifications and experience were at the level required to be offered the job, which, I thought was strange because I hadn't sent in my Interview questionnaire, nor did they ask me to take part in a telephone interview or send a photograph or submit any references. Being very dubious about the company I was open minded about anything they had to send me. A couple of days later I received the job offer. The salary and package were unbelievablely high which again raised my suspicions even more than they were already at. The offer included a 3 bedroomed villa and a company car which is unusual for a teacher to receive. Being highly suspicious I asked a friend of mine who is in the police to check to see if there had been any scams similar to this and also asked if they could get me some information on how to report this to the spanish authorities.

My friend and I searched various websites for frauds such as this, and before long we found a company advert for Texaco and somone who had been duped in a similar way, however just with a different line of work. Upon checking closer we found that the telephone numbers were the same for the TEXACO advert as they were for the University Teaching Hospital Barcelona. I checked the University website which was extremely poor, however, they did advertise as a new University so the website was still growing. But the huge mistake was that they had no information about how to apply to become a student, no faculty information, infact virtually no information. The company used a gmail account which no good company uses.

All in all a very plausible job offer initially but the further in it went the more and more the things just didn't add up.

The scam is based on Residency, Visa, and certain other costs which total €1250 euros. As a European citizen, I would require a visa however I would be required to pay for residency fees, which apparently get taken out of your first months salary. I have no doubt the company will state that they pay the fees but when you go through the process you will be asked to pay the fees in advance in the blind hope that you get your money back. I also feel that there may be another side to ths scam, which is personal information gathering, details such as your passport number and national insurance, all of which could be used for other scams by people such as this.

I hope someone else who has suspicions gets the chance to read this before falling into a very expensive trap. Thankfully I didn''t fall for it, although I did want to believe it was a true and honest Job offer. Well done indeed to Monster jobs website team for being very good at what they do, they were the first alarm to ring and dispensed the right advice when it was needed. Many thanks to them.

Yes, I am a physician in the Philippines and I got this fantastic job offer from UTH. The picture and web page o[censored]niversity Teaching Hospital, UTH...in Barcelona, Spain is indeed beautiful. But it lacks the necessary details and contact personalities that a huge hospital such as this as advertised would have. UTH is advertising for health personnel from physicians, nurses, medical technologists etc... Multiply 100, 000 times all over the world, and most likely some people will bite and this will amount to a lot of money for this illegal recruitment. So it is a huge market, if this is an outright scam.

The package including the villas plus the super salaries are like god-send. For one who would like to hope for this kind of dream, one would literally fall for this kind of scam.

A need for am investigation by the Spanish authorities on a certain Dr. James Oslo?, HR Manager should be done with other signatories in Madrid.

Please let other people know.

Thanks,

Joe

I also got an offer from UTH and after checking from the google about the hospital, but I found very little about it and I send my cv . But I also report to the monster the same mail as spam and to my surprise they reported it as spam and caution me about the same. Today I received the same job offer as has been received by others who reported it. This seems to be a big scam and people should be cautioned about it. well done monster.
I too received a mail stating I have a offer at Madrid. Thanks to consumercomplaints.and to Mr.Adam in that I dint go further and loose my money. I suggest that its better that monster.com can stop such people from misusing such fraud companies and help people who are really searching for a job offer.
Thank you very much for this valuable information.

Thank you people.Even i had recieved a letter stating i am qualified for some specific post..I am hapy i didnt fall into the trap.
OMG! Thank God, I found this page. I truly would have fallen to this cheap scam too. You know what? I phoned this Dr. Oslo with the number given on the alleged appointment letter. A deep voice answered. He speaks English quite well with a Sierra Leone accent. He urged me to send the money right away so that the Madrid Home Office can proceed with the visa processing. Well, I told him that I am working right at this moment and that I am very busy. He asked if I can send it the next day. I replied that I will and that was the end of our conversation.

I had my doubts the moment I received the e-mail. Something inside my brain screamed, telling me to better check this out first before doing anything. That's when I found this forum.

Well, I have a few tricks up my sleeve to make fun with this guy. I'm going to give him a dose of his own medicine. Yup!
Hi,
I've also received an offer to work in that same hospital and they also never asked for references or a job interview!Extremely high salary with benefits..
I've asked regarding the use of Spanish and they said that most people in that hospital speak english.
Anyway, I'm not going into it any further.
Bye, Tanya
I was offered the same job by the same UTH..Thanks, God! I was trapped by my delayed decision with an unexplainable reason..probably, blessing in disguise! Or, i had fallen & caught in the trap! Thanks to my Guiding Light! Now, i know that i should always be cautious..I wonder why there are people like these..Wanting to earn money through cheating..to cheat..cheat..cheat!
I just wanted to say THANK YOU to all who were so concern to write & confirmed this scam job offer! Thanks also to Googles..twas really a great help so that not everyone have been victimized by this cheating people..Don't worry, God will help you find much better job! God bless!
I received the same offer too and good thing is, I know I didn't apply to any job in Spain even if it's supposed to come from monster job.So regarding all the necessary requirements or interviews at least through phone interview, but nothing was asked from me so that being said, I was already suspicious about it. Obviously it's a scam.
Everyone be very careful specially receiving any offers from any of this said company, decline it as soon as possible if you know you don't have knowledge about the offer and you don't remember applying to the said job offer, use your common sense and work out your noodle(brain). Good luck to everyone and GB - concern citizen of the Philippines.
