[Resolved]  West Bengal Surface Transport Corporation — Bus Fare

Dear Sir,

I am a daily passenger in Garia-New Town route White Mini Bus Service operated by West Bengal Surface Transport Corporation (WBSTC). The State Government reduced the bus fare due to fall in fuel price w.e.f February 10, 2009. The fares list (which is a photo copy) displayed in WBSTC operated buses in Garia-New Town route does not contain any Government Notification number and date. The revised fares list as displayed shows no change of fares, except from Science City to Garia where fare has been revised from Rs 7 to Rs 6. There is no original fares list in the bus – when the same is being asked for, the conductor is telling to contact their office at New Town.

The earlier fares list (when increased due to increased of fuel price) contained the Government Notification number and date. But in place of Government Notification number and date, the current fares list contains the words : “Franchise Name : Adrasha Paribahan Owner Welfare Society”.

Now my question to the Managing Director, WBSTC (who has signed on the fares list) :

(i) Whether the current fares list displayed in the bus is authentic (i.e. not tampered).
(ii) Whether the original fares list can be displayed in the bus, and
(iii) In case the displayed fares list is tampered from the one originally issued, what action is being taken.
