It appears that you have fallen prey to a classic internet scam. MSN/Microsoft does not conduct any lottery. Also, if you did not enter any lottery, how could you win in it? Your money is gone for ever. What you should do is to lodge a police complaint, and hope for the best. You could also check with your SBI branch where you made the payment about the person in whose account you deposited the amount. You could also lodge a complaint with them.
Please dont respond to any e mail which tells you about your winning any lottery. Please also do not act on any e mail which says that you have received a legacy from someone and requests you to send some amount towards legal expenses/service charges, etc. Usually such requests (like the lottery agent you heard from) are based in countries other than India, and are generally called 'Nigerian Scams' since a large no. of them are reported to originate from there. Inform all your friends accordingly.

I received an email from MSN/Yahoo informing about me being a lucky winner and won 750000 GBP. The moment I read it, I knew that it is some kind of fraud. To cross check, I sent them an email and then was told via email that my cheque of 750000 GBP would be couriered through All ways couriers and i have to pay in advance for the shipping charges which comes to around 30k rs!!!

I am sure it is a fraud but always wonder why can't these people be caught and imprisoned?? Can somebody help please?
