HTC India — HTC service center quoted 18000/- for replacing a microphone .

HTC makes marvelous phones and is amazing when it comes to advertise their brand but they have done a real pathetic job when they chose Skycell Shiva Jyothi Complex, Polayathod Kollam as their authorized service center . I purchased HTC one smartphone on 25 Jun 2013 from Univercell The mobile expert Karunagappally for Forty one thousand . The model No : HTC one M7, IME : [protected] . After using for five months the phone started showing problem on Camera . The camera had a Purple tint colour issue and it was serviced by Skycell and the camera was replaced and it does not cost me anything as it was in warranty period . Later on April 2nd 2015 I met with a problem on Mic of the same handset specifically people seem to have a hard time hearing me in calls they say my voice is very muffled . when I place the call on loudspeaker they can hear me crystal clear. I called skycell service center and told the issue they ask me to bring the handset to the service center to check the problem is due to any software issue or hardware if it was caused by hardware they told they will send it to the Service center at Bangalore and will take around 20 days to get repaired. Due to lack of time I decided to use the same handset with Bluetooth headset and was working fine . later on 6/5/2015 I took the handset to the service center ( SKYCELL kollam ) and the service engineer check overall the handset and recognized the problem is on microphone and not no software issue . so they decide to send to the HTC service center Bangalore for replacing the microphone and the back panel ( Because the plastic on bottom side of the usb port and mic was little broken and I ask them to replace that also . when I asked about the cost for replacing both items they told they will inform me as the service center in Bangalore will mail them the quotation for the repair cost and if the cost was accepted by me they will repair otherwise will send back the device without repairing and the skycell collect 560 rs from me in advance for their inspection fee and was written on the top of the Htc service report receipt and told the amount will not be refunded in any case. My complaint receipt details . 1. Ticket No: 15INA[protected] 2. Job No: TRV[protected] 3. Remark noted : Mic not working, front frame down side damage. 4. Cosmetic inspection : Good 5. Symptom : Defective recording : Mic not working, front frame down side damage. After a week of waiting I didn’t get any call from service center ( SKYCELL ) regarding the quotation so I made a call on 10/6/2015 to [protected] which was their customer care number they didn’t pick the call after around 6 calls they took and I asked the status of my device and told the ticket number ( 15INA[protected] and Job number (TRV[protected] then they told its parts have arrived and it in replacing process and the total cost will be 1280 INR . I asked them why not informing me about the quotation (which they told before they will inform and after that only replace the parts ), The service center told they inform only if the quotation is more than 2000 INR . and promise me that they will deliver the handset within next 5 days so I waited for the call . On 15th I got a call from [protected] and was informed that my device total repair cost will be 18000 INR I was shocked and ask why this much money to replace microphone and back panel they replay that they don’t know about that and asked me whether to repair or not frankly I told no and ask to return my device as soon as possible without any problem . On 18th Jun 2015 I got a messange from MD-HTCIND that “ Your HTC device Ticket No: 15INA[protected] is getting ready to ship out today to service center. Expected Transit time 2 days . will sms you once delivered at center . Thanks “ 1. On23rd June I got inform through sms from MD-HTCIND that the device is delivered at service center and request to collect it . so I went to collect the device from the service center ( SKYCELL ) I showed the receipt and they showed my device and I check all sides of the device and noted that it was not properly reassembled the volume key was not inserted properly and the LCD is little bit opened from the panel . When I gave for servicing at Skycell the overall device cosmetic inspection by service engineer was marked as Good . I asked the skycell for a copy of quotation from Bangalore HTC service center for the amount 18000 INR which was needed to repair my HTC device with mic and back panel replacement . they first told that they can’t provide so I told them that I have to right to known the quotation if that was quoted for my device repairing cost so they ak my mail id for them to forward it . so I decided not to collect the device without getting that quotation . They send the mail at 5.29 Pm and when I checked the quotation I was shocked to notice that the parts which I needed to replace from my device was something that was working perfectly alright . the parts the told to replace for mic repair are listed below Battery, Speaker, MIC and usb boar, Conductive fabric LCD ground, Conductive Fabric LCD FPC, Conductive fabric MFPC, Conductive Fabric Upper FPC, MYLAR ZIF connector MYLAR WJE, MYLAR cable battery FPC FIX M, FRU-SUB ASSY SHARP WHITE LAMIN, Laser Etching, HTC, BYD, Silver, PN07110, M7#u-C9#EMEA. Which means if I need to replace Mic I have to replace the entire parts from the device . On 24th June I went to collect the device form skycell I was them why I need to replace battery that is still working fine on the device, Why to replace LCD which is working fine, speaker which is also working fine, They ( Skycell ) service engineer have no replay and they agree that they are also shocked why needed to replace it . after an hour of talk I ask them the rectify my device with any problem on LCD display, speaker and battery and I need a return writing on this what they noticed on my device at the time of delivery from the service center ( SKYCELL kollam ) . They have confirm by writing that the parts the HTC service center Bangalore told to replace was perfectly working without replacing it . Sir I called the toll free number [protected] and asked about the status of my Ticket no : 15INA[protected] And they informed that the device is returned due to not accepting the quotation, when I asked the quotation amount she told 2228 INR . On 24th evening I had a chat with HTC online support and enquired about the Ticket no:15INA[protected] she told all the parts in the device need to replace because it was damaged and lifted up at the time they receive in Bangalore also she did not give a proper answer for my question . she told the whole board needed to replace . When I gave the device at Skycell Kollam it was perfectly working condition, LCD was not lifted up, battery was working fine and the only problem they recorded was mic not working and down side bottom damage ( a small pice of plastic ) for repairing Mic . Mr. Muhammed sheheer skycell he told that HTC one smartphone ( my device ) once opened the whole body housing have to replace that is how it was made, during warranty they replace with free after warranty customer have to pay . that means if want to replace mic which cost Rs 2500 I have to pay another 14000 for full housing ( Part no: HTC-80H01568-01, HTC-83H[protected] . I request you to take immediate action against SKYCELL . all supporting documents included . Yours truly Jinu Gopalan
