[Resolved]  Idea Cellular — Unacceptable GPRS Usage charges

I had migrated / ported my Karnataka Circle number [protected] from Vodafone to Idea in July 2015. My alternate number is [protected]. Brief of the incident is: I visited Alaan Services, an Idea Store in Coles Road, Bangalore and submitted my all documents required for porting. I selected my desired plan of Rs. 180/- rental and Rs. 850/- for 3G internet that would be 5GB Unlimited plan. The number was activated on Idea on 22 July 2015. All went well, my GPRS worked well and after using the internet I receive a notification about the usage and the cost after 2 days. I immediately called the customer care and I was told that Alaan Services has not indicated of the GPRS plan and by then I had to ask the person to activate Rs. 850/- Unlimited 3G Plan and he mentioned it will be 6GB Unlimited. On 25 July 2015, my bill gets generated with Rs. 499/- charged as internet usage. I called the Call Centre for the reversal of this amount and I was told to get the request raised through the store where I got the connection from as it was their mistake. I visited Alaan Services and they apologised for the inconvenience and requested me to pay up the whole bill and upon the next bill generation, I should visit them again and they will speak to the authorities and get the waiver done. Again, the same time I reconfirmed from the store if my Rs. 850/- plan is unlimited, I was told yes, it is 6GB Unlimited Plan. My usage exceeds over 6GB and I started getting notifications of the same, and out of curiosity I called the Call Centre on 13 August 2015 and asked if I am on Rs. 850/- Unlimited GPRS Plan? I get a confirmation yes, you are just that your speed will now reduce to 156 kbps instead of 3G. Communicated ID# C1-[protected]. Today, 19 August 2015, I received a notification that I am nearing my Credit Limit of Rs. 5000/- where the unbilled usage is approximately Rs. 4700/-. I called the the Call Centre at 1451 hrs, a girl answers the call and to my surprise she says that I am on a 6GB Limited Plan where I am getting charged after it has exceeded 6GB. When I wanted to speak to a supervisor I was told they are all busy and in 1 hour time I will get a call back which of course did not happen. I called back again at 1625 hrs and I finally reached a supervisor by name Ms. Phenmoli and she hasn't been of any help and asks me to make 50% of the payment else the services will be barred once the credit limit exceeds. The Communication ID is C1-[protected] Resolutions I need is the following: 1. I am reinstated to Rs. 850/- 5GB or 6GB (whichever applies) Unlimited Plan on immediate basis 2. My services are not barred 3. Reversal of first bill charges of Rs. 499/- 4. Reversal o[censored]nacceptable charges by putting me onto a Limited Plan. I have no denial of paying Rs. 850/- as per what I committed and needed for my usage as per an Unlimited 3G GPRS Plan. Regards, Mujahid Kareem [protected]

I am seeing there is a reasonable response from Idea Executives so far. Ms. Moiz from Idea has called me to take details and a closer look on the case on 20/Aug/15 at 1501 hrs and on 21/Aug/15 at 1537 hrs although there is a restricted number that she's calling me from that doesn't display the call record. There hasn't been any resolution yet, however, according to her, she will go through the call record clip of my 23/Jul/15 when I spoke to the call centre to activate Rs. 850/- Unlimited 3G plan where I was put onto a 6GB Limited Plan. I have asked her to run through the call record clip of my 13/Aug/15 as well when I called to reconfirm if I am on an Unlimited 3G Plan and the one who attended my call stressed that I am on a 6GB Unlimited plan and since I've exceeded 6GB data, the speed will now drop down.

Ms. Moiz, during her last interaction on 21/Aug/15 mentioned that until my bill doesn't get generated, which is 25/Aug/15 she will pull out the call record clips and will reverse the charges and will positively call me on 25/Aug/15 and pass the final resolution.

It is evident that had Alaan Services (where I got the application process done to migrate from Vodafone to Idea) done their job in the right way, I wouldn't have gone through this inconvenience and wasting time behind this process. I have been going through inconvenience because I've stopped using data services until this is resolved fully. I got to watch if there will be compensation other than the required resolution as a gesture of apology by Idea Cellular.

I appreciate the way idea has addressed these issues and been on it until the concerns were fully resolved. All additional charges were reversed after reviewing the case closely.
