My brother, Shri t.shivshankar was to be discharged after hernia operation from 12th floor, bed no. 30 on 29th Octobenr, 2014. Dr. Had told the patient that he will be discharged on 29th October. 2014, at 1000 hrs. Patient was waiting patiently till afternoon for the sister concerned to inform him about his discharge. On enquiry after long wait sister on duty informs the patient irresponsibly, it is for the patient to know the procedure of taking discharge and he/relatives should go to hospital administration and follow up. This they could have communicated as soon as Dr. Concerned wrote in the patients file. There is no proper communication by the staff of the hospital with the patient, unlike other hospitals in the city.
Management should make it mandatory for the staff to inform the concerned patient/relatives minimum procedures of discharge and other basic information after concerned Dr. Writes the note of discharge on the file.
The above matter may be taken seriously by the hospital management, since patient may be required to make necessary arrangement after discharge; like calling relatives, arranging transport for travel, etc., on taking discharge. Patient had reached his residence at Dadar at 2230 hrs due to irresponsible behaviour of the staff on 29th October, 2014. Was this information helpful? |
