LG Electronics — Selling Demo/Used TV as new

Address:Haridwar, Uttarakhand

I bought a new plasma TV model number 42PN4500 from LG Shoppe (Authorized LG Brand-store) owned by Veer Traders in Roorkee, Uttarakhand. I expected them to provide the best possible service that LG has to offer. My story: I paid for the TV and told the manager of the store specifically that I wanted a brand new TV, not a demo one. He assured me that I will get a brand new TV. So, I went home. After an hour the rickshaw person came with the TV and the installer came at the same time as well. When they opened up the TV, there were scratches near the wall mounting holes, which clearly indicated that it had been wall mounted before. I refused to accept that TV and the manager sent another TV which he said was brand new. When the second TV arrived, I could clearly see that the TV had been opened before and the bag that contains remote and books etc had been opened. I was upset on seeing that TV, but I allowed them to install the TV. After installation, I saw that there were spots on the screen which should not have been on a new TV. The installer said that LG puts a plastic on the TV screen which left a residue. I am sure LG puts no plastic on the screen and the spots on the screen were definitely not from tape residue. When I put a completely white screen on the TV, I could clearly see image retention of HBO and even the movie name, which confirmed my suspicion completely that somebody was watching HBO on that TV. So, I called the manager again and he said that he would give me a new fresh piece as soon as it arrived. I could not trust him after being lied to so many times. So, I went to the store and the store owner was acting as if it was my fault that I would not accept his used TV as new for a new product that I paid for. To my surprise, I saw that the demo TV from the store was missing. I could not believe the amount of cheating these people did. The second time around they sent the demo TV from the store as new. The store owner gave me refund on the TV, but I believe LG should compensate me for my wasted time and they should revoke the license of Veer Traders for indulging in unfair business practices of selling used/demo items as new.

I received a call from LG, but the person calling appeared not at all surprised by the actions of LG authorised dealer and it appeared that this is the norm in the LG company. I don't think LG is going to take any action. I do not recommend LG at all to anyone if they are going to treat their costumers like fools: "Selling used products as new".
